Dragon Age could have had its own Baldur's Gate 3 moment, according to former series lead Mark Darrah. Darrah believes BioWare could have followed the path from Dragon Age: Origins towards a deeper, more complex RPG similar to Larian's hit. Instead, the studio moved towards simpler and more accessible games to appeal to a wider audience. "You can imagine a world where BioWare follows a line that leads from Dragon Age: Origins to something that looks a lot like Baldur’s Gate 3," He points to Dragon Age 2 and Inquisition as examples of that shift, arguing that trying to appeal to everyone ultimately meant losing some of what made the original RPG special.
