AI infrastructure competition looks to be entering a new phase. The research below by Epoch AI suggests that AI infra spending by major hyperscalers such as Microsoft, Amazon, Google, Meta, and Oracle is growing much faster than their operating cash flow. If this continues, the companies may find it difficult to fund their expansion through internal cash flow by EOY. This could change the nature of AI competition from 'who can build the largest model' to 'who can run AI most efficiently' and deliver real value at lower cost, and scale inference sustainably. Governments, enterprises, and research ecosystems face several significant implications due to this shift. First, relying entirely on foreign big-tech APIs creates strategic dependency. Countries and institutions will need access to shared AI compute infrastructure that can support startups, universities, hospitals, researchers, and public-sector use cases. Second, the focus should not be limited to building larger foundation models. More attention should go toward domain-specific models, smaller and more efficient models, on-premise AI, inference optimization, and cost efficient deployment. In the next phase, 'cheap, fast, secure, and useful AI' may matter as much as "large AI." Third, AI data centers should not be viewed only as a semiconductor issue. They are national-scale infrastructure involving power grids, cooling systems, land, fiber networks, cybersecurity, and energy policy. AI infrastructure strategy must therefore be integrated with industrial policy, energy policy, and digital infrastructure planning. Fourth, in critical sectors such as healthcare, biotechnology, manufacturing, defense, finance, and public services, data sovereignty and AI sovereignty need to be designed together. Having a model is not enough. Real value requires trusted data, validated workflows, secure deployment environments, and reliable service infrastructure. AI infrastructure race is moving beyond a simple contest of who can spend the most money to a competition over sustainability, efficiency, and real economic productivity.
The end of the self-funded AI buildout? Hyperscaler cash capex is growing much faster than cash inflows. On current trends, they will be unable to fully fund the AI infrastructure buildout with cash from operations by the end of this year.

Google DeepMind just released a paper (arxiv.org/html/2606.12683v1) on the path from AGI to ASI, and Iโ€™ve been thinking about one part of it. The paper lays out four possible paths from AGI to ASI: -Scaling -Algorithmic paradigm shifts -Recursive self-improvement -Multi-agent collective intelligence Personally the fourth one feels most plausible for me (Iโ€™m far from an expert, so definitely don't take my word for it). But if so, then superintelligence may not show up as one giant model that knows everything. It could look more like millions of AGI agents working together across automated companies, research labs, markets, and economies. Then the conversation we should have is not only about model capability anymore. It is also about the resources and coordination behind the system: compute, energy, infrastructure, access, and governance. Thus this becomes more of an infrastructure problem than just an AI model one. And this is where I keep coming back to blockchain. If ASI does end up looking like a multi-agent economy, then parts of governance may need to become machine-readable, auditable, programmable, and interoperable across borders. This is the layer that the blockchain could be proven useful as an importance piece of the governance infrastructure.

We have never believed that taking a different path simply because it differs from others is a mistake. From the beginning, our commitment has been clear: to put the community first, not as a slogan, but as a principle that guides every major decision we make. We continue to ask ourselves a simple question: what creates the most meaningful and lasting value for the community that supports this project? The true value of any project is not determined by short-term attention, headline valuations, or how much profit the foundation can extract. It is built on trust. In the same way that belief gives a currency its value, we believe the long-term strength of this project comes from the confidence, conviction, and support of our community. Protecting that trust is more important to us than pursuing easy gains. We are not here to take advantage of short-term opportunities at the expense of long-term credibility. Some may look at our valuation and question it. We understand that perspective. But our responsibility does not end with creating momentum. Our responsibility is to strengthen the ecosystem around this project, contribute to a healthier market, and build something that can endure. We chose this direction because the blockchain industry has seen too many projects driven by speculation, short-term hype, and pump-and-dump behavior. We want to help set a different standard for what a project can be. Although we began as a meme, our ambition goes far beyond that label. We believe a meme project can do more than capture attention. It can also create culture, build trust, and contribute to a healthier market environment. That is the standard we intend to uphold. Since launch, we have seen countless projects emerge. Many attracted more attention than we did after their TGE, but many also disappeared just as quickly. We are not here to make empty promises or suggest that everyone will become wealthy. What we are building is a project where dedication, belief, and meaningful participation are treated fairly and recognized as real value over time. That is the path we have chosen. It may not be the easiest path, but we believe it is the right one.

Korea Martial Law live update. Typically, when martial law is declared, deploying the military to control the situation is the standard protocol, but thatโ€™s not the case here. It is currently the police and not the military that is blocking the National Assembly. Reportedly, lawmakers managed to enter the National Assembly regardless. In this scenario, the National Assembly would likely oppose the martial law declaration, effectively nullifying it. So this is why I don't understand why martial law was declared in the first place, and so hastily.

Part of the martial law army has entered the National Assembly building. However, there are more than enough Congressman (need at least 151 votes) to oppose the martial law now.
