in lisbon for @WebSummit next week, mon to wed
at @HorusGroup_ we commercialize and invest in seed-stage tech, from our own balance sheet. mostly fintech, AI and infra
looking to meet:
- seed funds and angels in those spaces
- founders in the same spaces with a working product, raising their seed
dm me and lets meet there
The name-calling and the polarization are toxic in their own way. why play that game at all
nobody writes this post about a customer who doesnt reply. If youre selling to a company and hey go quiet, you stay top of mind, follow up, hustle, and thats normal.
Its frustrating, but with an investor, suddenly founders have 10000x better things to do.
Money touches peoples ego more, so investors get these posts.
and "close the loop" mostly wont happen. For the investor the silence is free optionality, if it works out for you he comes back. You dont have to like it, its part of his job.
The investors' job is finding the best deal to buy into with their LPs' money. Your customers' job is making his company the most money, so you prove your thing does that
Flatten it out and its the same mechanism
this is a terrible take, founders have 10000x better things to do
the reality is most vcs are meek (business) ppl who arent conscientious enough to close the loop and not good enough project managers to be responsive at email despite having eas and ai agents
also most dont have guts to say no nor to voice their true opinions because they afraid of what founders will think of them, which is weak
Ive been saying this for 2 years now, the big get bigger and the small get rekt even faster.
if youre building a niche web3-native project for web3-native users and pitching strictly do web3 funds, youre running out of people to pitch
and Id say thats good for you. It getting harder means youll figure it out and a lot of others wont. Ive watched this space professionalize since 2016, fine by me
You can still build a business there and raise for it, someone will reply with a team that just did. But the money follows the demand.
And if you insist on building something super niche and hang the whole project o ntech thats only a bit different from whats already out there, users wont pick it up and the money wont either.
So if the funds stopped replying, look at what youre building first. You might be the problem and youve gotta be a part of the solution here

Fable 5 is included in Claude subs until July 7th.
Run these 5 prompts in Claude Code immediately:
1. "Review ROADMAP. md. Write a detailed development task list for building the entire thing. Include tests that will prove to yourself that what you built works. Then run /goal to build our entire roadmap overnight."
2. "Here's the tool I want to build: [idea]. Write the full spec, write the test suite, build it, then use browser control to run every user flow yourself. Loop until every flow passes. Then suggest opportunities for improvement."
3. "Use my browser to go through every page of [SaaS tool we torch budget on]. Write a detailed product requirements document based on what you find so we can build our own custom version of it."
4. "Rebuild our entire codebase from scratch. The old version is your spec. Turn it into a development plan for building a 10x better version. Write tests that capture everything it currently does, then loop until the new version passes all of them."
5. "Review our current codebase. What new features or capabilities would make this 10x more valuable? Create a detailed roadmap for building it out, including clearly defined acceptance criteria for each feature."
