The birth of optogenetics, whose pioneers won the Nobel Prize this year (!), is interesting because it developed almost randomly.
The history of this field (from @ayanobacter) can help us truly understand discovery...and train better AI for science.

In May, we had just closed our best quarter ever – and of course decided to re-build @hexanalytics from scratch.
Today we're announcing two things: Hex 4.0, the first analytics platform truly built for agents; and a $100m fundraise at a $1.2B valuation, led by @peakxvpartners
The world is changing fast, and we're not slowing down! Read more here:

In a world where agents do the buying: brand, marketing, and vibes lose out to products that are “objectively better” on measurable criteria like price, performance, and reliability.
That’s really fascinating.
If agents don’t care about the aura of your brand, and are doing the buying for customers, the products that win will be the ones that make it easy for agents to figure out why they are “quantifiably” better. Not the ones that had the best marketing campaigns.
your TV is spying on you
tin foil hat people right again
WTF, $3000 Samsung TV has an always-on mic, automatic content recognition, geo tracking, network mapping, and ships your data to Samsung + 400 partners.
Bro Rooted a brand-new 2025 Samsung TV after noticing absurdly targeted ads.
Firmware was locked down, so zero-days it was.
Got a root shell.
then found: always-on voice service, ACR, geo, full telemetry pipeline, and four separate DRM systems.
This isn’t a bug, It’s the product bro.
ok so almost everyone who liked this post bookmarked it
don't bet against @tjcages
