Gold and Silver Just Crashed — Here’s My Take
Gold and silver have just experienced a historic crash. Gold dropped over 10–12% from ~$5,600 to ~$4,700, while silver plunged roughly 25–31%, marking one of its most violent moves since 1980.
In my view, this wasn’t a single-factor event — it was a cascade of leverage unwinds, margin calls, profit-taking, and shifting macro narratives. After massive rallies through 2025–2026, positioning became overcrowded on the long side. Once momentum broke, forced liquidations — especially in silver — accelerated the selloff.
At the macro level, Kevin Warsh’s nomination strengthened confidence in Fed discipline, lifted the USD, and reduced expectations for aggressive QE. Rising margin requirements (+36% silver, +33% gold) further intensified liquidation pressure. Physical demand hasn’t collapsed — this was mainly a paper-market panic.
During this volatility, execution quality and liquidity matter more than ever. @MEXC_Official recently ranked #1 in Gold and Silver futures trading volume, with about $1.5B in precious metals futures volume during peak volatility — translating into tighter spreads, deeper liquidity, and better fills.

1. we have a round of big product updates being done in progress. now if you go to the site you'd find 15% of the update so it'd feel half-baked for the next few weeks - but some parts are funner than the others, at least i hope you guys think that way. overall what'd be expected is inspired by the past few cases that worked well on Trends.
2. for some of the already updated product features, we plan to run an event to see if they work at all. def stay tune for that
3. a lot of upcoming efforts will be focused on asset issuance (optimize the issuance process and improving liquidity by bringing the assets to more liquidity venues)
4. both Appstore and GooglePlay are approved last month. don't think we've properly announced yet but they'll roll out at the right time
5. the x402 hackathon is due today and we will be busy working with solana and other sponsors to evaluate the submissions. very excited for that!
