“I don’t think employers are working people”. Emma Reynolds, Chief Secretary to the Treasury. Beyond belief.
Car crash interview on GB News. Labour's Emma Reynolds: 'I don't think employers are working people, they are companies.' Tell that to every small business owner opening up at 6am. Labour promised no tax rises on working people, and now it's redefining who counts.

Slavery was an evil in which people from every continent and region participated. We should be honest about the whole history, not select the parts that are politically convenient today, especially given Britain's leading role in ending the transatlantic slave trade. If Caribbean countries are asking Britain for a formal apology for Britain’s role in the transatlantic slave trade, will they also be asking the same of the descendants of African kingdoms, rulers and merchants who captured, sold and profited from the trade? On demands for reparations, whether through cash or debt relief, we have been down this track before. Twenty-five years ago, Jubilee 2000, Drop the Debt and Make Poverty History argued that cancelling the debts of poorer countries would give them a fresh start. More than $100 billion of debt was eventually written off, but many of those countries have since built up even bigger debts. Labour are already spending too much on Britain's welfare state, now is not the time for Andy Burnham to be providing global welfare. There is no reason British taxpayers today should be held financially responsible for things that happened generations before any of us were born. And I have even less patience for political elites in commonwealth countries who don’t know how to make their own citizens prosperous now looking for another opportunity to blame Britain. As Prime Minister, Andy Burnham should be Britain’s greatest defender. Instead, he is writing articles saying we need to confront our history (as if we haven't done enough of that) and considering another formal historical apology. Tony Blair already expressed Britain’s deep sorrow and regret for our role in the slave trade nearly twenty years ago. There is no need to do so again. This is all another navel-gazing distraction. The Commonwealth should be looking forward, not endlessly backwards. That means economic partnerships to make us all richer and deeper military and security cooperation against common threats. If every Commonwealth summit becomes an exercise in presenting Britain with demands for cash then we need to start asking if it is worth the effort.

This is…very confusing. The Prime Minister insists that no decision on Rosebank has been taken… But, the Office for Budget Responsibility have based their forecasts on, “estimates of the production from currently producing fields and the NSTAs estimate of production from development of new fields, which include ROSEBANK and from FUTURE DISCOVERIES.” So, is it approved or not? Serious questions to answer from the Energy Secretary!

🤔 The removal of standing charges on gas bills…sounds good doesn’t it? 💁‍♂️ On the face of it, yes, in general bills might be lower - but here’s the catch… 🤨 If you are a ‘higher consumer’ (meaning someone that uses gas for heating, cooking, hot water etc) then your energy bill is about to go UP. That’s cause they are putting the fixed daily cost on to the Unit Rate. 🥶Next week in large parts of the UK, the temperature is going to get close to freezing. Because of these changes, if you live there and heat your home with gas and want to turn on the central heating…Labour just made your life much more difficult and far more expensive.

Man Utd have to be brave here and say Carrick is staying long-term. Back him big time. Can’t have a media feeding frenzy every weekend based on next result. Players have to know manager is going nowhere , so either put in hard yards or be axed.

Wholly wrong. Either an income of £13,036 is taxable or it isn’t. The age of the recipient should be immaterial.
🚨 NEW: John Healey will announce pensioners will be protected from paying income tax in the Budget The state pension will rise by £489 to £13,036 with the tax-free allowance rising to match

Oh dear. It seems I’ve upset a Reformer simply be referencing their recent electoral performance. Of course, Reformers would deny their blatant racism.
Replying to @1959lofty
Must be why your entire party is 90% focused on attacking Reform not fulfilling its roll as official opposition and challenging Labour substatnitively. You are afull shit, good luck with your black Thatcher, a Nigerian impersonator.

GB Energy, the useless state-owned company established by Labour, has so far spent £14.2m on running costs — and £5.8m on investments. Running costs included the almost £400,000/year paid to its ineffective CEO and six executives on more than £100,000 each. What any of them has done to earn these sums is one of life’s mysteries. Perhaps it’s a blessing it’s invested so little. The £5.8m it has earmarked is for a proposed floating wind farm off the north coast of Scotland — a sure-fire loss-maker if ever there was one.

The role of a councillor is to serve the public, not serve oneself 😏
Labour councillor was "too tired" to remember hospitality rules training A Labour councillor and former Sheriff of Nottingham used his title to get a £20,000 discount on Land Rover repairs and free Paw Patrol tickets Zafran Khan, a Labour councillor who held the ceremonial Sheriff of Nottingham role, emailed a Stratstone dealership from his council address and signed off as the Sheriff. Repairs quoted at £30,000 were cut to £7500. An independent report found he also took free tickets to Paw Patrol Live, a Tate McRae concert and a Nottingham Panthers game plus racecourse hospitality without declaring them. Council rules require gifts over £25 to be registered. Khan said he was too tired to remember the rules after staying up until 4am or 5am before induction training. He denied any intent to gain advantage. The report said it was reasonably obvious that using the title might lead to one. Complaints began in September last year. The standards committee meeting was abandoned and rescheduled. Khan’s legal team says the report contains errors. No sanctions have been decided.

The epitome of champagne socialists. We deserve so much better than these two clowns.
Labour Chancellor John Healey and Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband👇🏼 While the British people struggle with the cost of living, Labour’s tax rises and the lack of defence funding to protect us, they are acting like they don’t have a care in the world.
