It works! 1967 John Deere 55 combines wheat again for the first time in 43 years. Took a fair bit of sheet metal work and some new chains. Beautiful day for some nostalgic harvesting! #harvest23
Not an expert-admitting it is a good first step.
Pretending to work as one doesn’t make it ok.
Look at this test-wow. Hopefully the owner of this soil sees the couple glaring red flags and seeks out further investigation and professional interpretation
First few soil tests results trickling in
Observations:
1.) 60 bu canola takes A LOT of nitrogen !!!
2.) in my opinion - we know A LOT less about soil than we think

Have had good results in the past. Fall jobs take extra motivation to get at not so bad once you’re at it.
Thanks @hamiltondw2 for the platform/step motivation-needs paint yet, but nice to have.

Our farm auction opened today & will close on October 20th. Thanks to @SteffesGroup for this video. youtu.be/LHCKJgDYBv8?is=pHNF…
While @GerryHertz & I are ready to retire from farming, this all still feels very strange! Some have said it must be bittersweet; yes, I suppose it is.
Right there is the last of the ‘26 harvest for Aidra Farms. Thankful for a very good crop, excellent service from the equipment and most of all, tireless effort from our tiny family crew.
Hope everyone else gets finished during this decent stretch of weather
Lots of information for sale to farmers these days. Some is good, some is questionable. Buyer beware.

Been going all night (and day) to get the moisture right. Could use a bigger one. A small one gets the job done but not as exciting after a while. The propane supplier is satisfied either way.

Grain should be traded basis moisture content. Wheat, for example, discounts above 14.5 and premium below 14.5. Why not?
This is something that @Grain_Canada could decree so fair trade takes place. @SaskWheat @SaskOilseeds commodity groups representing farmers should consider.
Our Westking vs Wheatland field. Slight standing advantage to Westking. Yield tbd. 17 moisture
First day this fall the combine can roll along at a ‘normal’ pace.
Grandson’s first combine ride. Son driving the combine. Wife driving cart.
I just take pictures.

Steamin’.
Remember when the federal liberals were taxing us to dry our grain.
Indirectly they still are
Bad policy.
Combined tough wheat for a whole 6 hours…and along comes the 4th shot of rain for the day. Frustrating. #Harvest26
Great points here.
I’ll add that WentworthAg and Glenmor Grain are both Excellent dealers for GSI dryers. Sales, Parts and service are top shelf.
Thought @rgstone1 got rid of all his red tractors 😂

👨🎓 School is in session – the best of Dr. Ian Lee of Carleton University on the 🇨🇦-🇺🇸 trade war.
💣 Lee drops truth bombs on how much 🇨🇦 relies on the 🇺🇸, the actual impact of the booze bans, myth busting the media narrative, that supply mgmt must modified, the role of 🇨🇳 & the serious harm not getting a deal is causing 🇨🇦.
🚗 🪵 What’s striking is how prophetic he was on the auto sector being the true cause of tanking the deal & how extraordinary it was that the 🇺🇸 offered anything on softwood.
🥇 Look forward to future lessons @SprottSchool. Thx @cbcwatcher
A train service rig. Not sure if it will be handy enough - new to us air compressor will be used daily when harvesting.
