lula is the most important political figure in brazil’s history but let’s not forget THE PEOPLE did this. the brazilian left did NOT let hope die and has spent the last few weeks saying they absolutely would win (against all odds) while working hard to make that happen.

What a relief! Lula’s unexpected victory gives hope for the Amazon. He has dramatically cut felling, while Bolsonaro’s plans would doubtless have taken it past its tipping point, ensuring total eventual destruction with huge global consequences. euronews.com/2026/10/19/amaz…

From Asif ( Solicitor ) colleague of my sister. Hope it helps. Identification alone does not automatically establish contempt. The question under section 2 of the Contempt of Court Act 1981 is whether publication created a substantial risk that active proceedings would be seriously prejudiced or impeded. Intention to prejudice the proceedings is unnecessary. The surrounding remarks could make the difference. Describing a juror’s perceived religion while suggesting bias, expressing hostility or encouraging an audience to target them could support an argument that the publication exposed the jury to pressure and endangered the trial. That is an application of the statutory test, rather than an automatic rule about mentioning religion. Intentional intimidation is a separate possibility. Section 51 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 requires proof of its specific elements, including intimidation and the relevant intention to interfere with justice. An offensive remark alone does not establish those elements. If he was publicly suggesting that a sitting juror could not judge him fairly because they were Muslim, there would be a stronger argument for contempt: the concern would be pressure on that juror and interference with the jury’s independence. That is my application of the legal test, rather than a finding that the threshold has been met. The clip could properly be brought to the trial judge’s attention for assessment, preserving the original recording, link and publication details. CPS guidance expressly says apparent interference with jurors should be drawn to the judge’s attention. You do not need to establish contempt before raising that concern.

It’s 2075. There is only one hospital in the entire country. It is 8 square miles in the middle of Kansas and owned by United Healthcare. Premiums are $47,000 per month. The only medications left are Ozempic and boner pills. Life expectancy is 38. Government: “I can’t believe doctors did this to us.”

I learned something very beautiful today. In French, “bibliothèque intérieure” means your “inner library” the invisible shelf you carry inside, filled with every story that’s ever shaped you.

Suppose... just suppose... that there were some US airmen who, knowing there are huge fuel dumps on an airfield to which they have access, and what with spiralling fuel costs, think they could maybe cash in and earn some extra dollars. Suppose... just suppose... that they manage to get in contact with some naughty lads from London who would be more than delighted to take some cheap fuel off their hands. Suppose...just suppose... that the airmen got caught in flagrante syphoning off petrol/diesel in the dead of night, while the naughty London lads were waiting nearby for their delivery. Suppose... just suppose... that their higher-ups knew what kind of a huge embarrassment it would be if that came out. Suppose...just suppose... that once the local Neighbourhood Watch WhatsApp got involved and started phoning Uncle Tom Cobley, that they had to come up with a quick cover story to avoid the extreme embarrassment this would cause (not to mention utter ridicule). Suppose... just suppose... that the London lads are nicked, held, warned in the strongest terms to keep schtumm and let off on police bail. Far-fetched? Maybe I have an over-active imagination. Sounds more feasible the the series of cock-and-bull stories we are being fed about "foreign actors", tbh.

Is this related to the covid-not-flu that seems to be spiking at the moment? Wouldn't it be great if we still had testing/ boosters etc. (and people got sick pay)
Today (28 September), we have declared an internal critical incident due to ongoing and exceptional demand for hospital services at William Harvey Hospital. Beds across our hospitals are full and attendance at our emergency departments is extremely high ekhuft.nhs.uk/news/critical-…
