Rural women produce 50% of the world’s food, yet face systemic barriers & a disproportionate burden of neglected tropical diseases (#NTDs) like schistosomiasis.
On #IDRW, we champion their health & rights. Learn about the landmark @UN_HRC resolution: bit.ly/4p5bkuO

It's great to see @Ed_Miliband addressing the role of debt repayments in limiting global equality efforts!
But more can be done, particularly looking at the role of illicit financial flows and the UK's role as a hotbed for illicit finance.

🗨️ “We are not lacking commitments; we are lacking implementation – and accountability for delivering on those commitments,” said Alison Cox, NCD Alliance Policy and Advocacy Director, at the launch of the 2026 #UHCDay campaign, where she discussed NCDA’s priorities for next year’s High-Level Meeting on UHC.
🗨️“The opportunity of the HLM on UHC in 2027 is not to generate another set of promises, but to bring together the commitments already made and drive their implementation.”
While advocating for better #HealthForAll in the lead-up to the High-Level Meeting on #UHC, Alison highlighted that the NCD Alliance will be focusing on
✅prevention

Today is #WorldSightDay!
👁️Eye health belongs to the broader #NCD and #UHC agendas. It’s time to #ActOnNCDs, including eye conditions, and leave no one behind.
More than 2.2 billion people worldwide live with blindness or vision impairment. including 1.1 billion people whose vision loss is preventable or yet to be treated.
Without urgent action, this could rise to 1.8 billion by 2050.
We can no longer treat eye health in isolation.
Integrating eye health into stronger, more inclusive health systems is essential to achieving health for all.
The upcoming first-ever Global Summit for Eye Health, taking place on 2 November, offers a landmark opportunity for world leaders and partners to turn commitments into action and accelerate progress for people living with avoidable sight loss.

As we head towards the UK’s #G20 presidency, nutrition must be front & centre of the health agenda.
Thank you @BeccyCooper4Lab for highlighting both the economic & moral case for investing in nutrition: helping children survive, thrive & reach their full potential.

We survived the last pandemic. Today, the UN adopts a plan for the next one.
PPE that didn’t fit. Women on the frontline without decision-making power. The care burden that followed them home.
Preparedness that repeats this isn’t preparedness. #UNGA81 #WomenInGlobalHealth
What world leaders decide at today's #PPPR HLM will determine whether we build a world that protects everyone, everywhere, and that leaves no one behind.
Let's remind them that #UniversalHealthCoverage with #PrimaryHealthCare as a foundation is our greatest tool to prevent, prepare for, and effectively respond to pandemics.
It's time for leaders to act on their commitments and #InvestInUHC today!

Africa does not need more #climate plans that remain unfunded.
Vulnerability assessments must lead to clear priorities, investable programmes and country-led implementation that protects people from real and growing climate-related health risks.
During #UNGA81 and #ClimateWeekNYC, @Amref_Worldwide is working with partners to close the gap between evidence, policy and financing, turning climate commitments into stronger primary health care and greater community resilience.
The priority now is implementation.

Our message from research in 20 countries with more than 100 academics: pandemic readiness must be 360° and trust must be treated as preparedness infrastructure. Six calls to action:
1️⃣ Move from preparedness to 360° readiness
2️⃣ Institutionalise community participation
3️⃣ Cooperate to save lives: equitable vaccine allocation could save 2.7 million additional lives in a future pandemic
4️⃣ Fix vulnerable systems, not “vulnerable people”
5️⃣ Govern for trust
6️⃣ Commit to people’s protectionHuge thanks to
The Rt Hon Helen Clark @HelenClarkNZ, our Commissioners, Scientific team, Country Teams, Community participants and all our partners who made this possible.
From plans on paper to protection in practice. This is only the beginning!
