I'm so excited that this is out into the world. We put so much of our hearts into this work, and I think there's something for everyone to take from it, even if you aren't actively training an Indigenous student. Thank you to @kawennison for being our brave leader in this work

There are multiple paths to success as a postdoc.
From my experience:
1. Seek out good mentors
2. Find collaborators you love working with
3. Create community outside of work
4. Give back; do what's meaningful
5. Network within AND beyond academia
6. Be kind—to yourself & others

We learn who we are, how to treat people, and how we expect others will treat us from our close relationships!
Being supportive to your teen doesn't just help them in the moment - it may also help them support many others (their friends! their children!) for years to come!
🚨It's here! Our study tracking empathy across 3 generations over 25 years is out in Child Development @SRCDtweets🎉
We observed moms' empathy for teens & teens' empathy for their friends at 13-19, +assessed parenting 10y later.

Excited to share my first solo academic article. I intentionally did not publish much as a student. I am committed to truth telling. I am committed to meaningful scholarship. And now they cant take away my Ph.D so I will speak 🗣️.

Three weeks ago, I defended my dissertation examining Black college students' perceptions of and experiences with college counseling centers. This was the culmination of YEARS of working on study design, data collection, analysis, and the biggest beast: writing it all up. 1/5
For that, I am also grateful to myself for pushing on the hard days and on other hard days, doing everything but grad school. I'm glad I kept it real silly from 2018 to 2024 even when the world was not very silly at all. Graduation is next week, and internship ends in June. 4/5
I simply cannot believe I'm here and want the record to show that a PhD is a (P)retty (H)ard (D)egree and I can't wait to be a (P)sychologist (H)elping (D)a world.

If you'd like to support at all, here's how!
