As #BRICS leaders meet in New Delhi this weekend, the grouping faces a familiar question: Is it becoming a meaningful geopolitical actor or is it little more than a diplomatic talking shop? In my new analysis I challenge the premise behind this debate. collections.fes.de/publikati…

Finally!
Exclusive: Pentagon officials have in recent weeks asked several NATO countries to tone down their rhetoric regarding the threat posed by Russia, arguing that some statements by European leaders and officials have undermined continental security reut.rs/4sxwEuB

These images brought me to tears. They are a testament to humanity - something we urgently need. They also remind us that #Russia and #Ukraine can find a way to negotiate an end to this war (with U.S. mediation). Let humanity prevail over warmongering. This terrible war must end soon.
This is very inspiring. The ceasefire holds: "Жодна сторона жодного разу не порушила режим тиші/Neither side violated the ceasefire even once" (0:42). So it's possible.

Humanitarian Mission in Oleshky: Delivering Humanitarian Aid to Everyone in Need ℹ️ We are currently in Armiansk, working alongside Russian Human Rights Commissioner Yana Lantratova and coordinating further steps within the framework of this mission. Journalists from three countries have also joined us to cover the mission. Everything has now been prepared to a high standard. We are delivering humanitarian aid to the residents of Oleshky. Our main task is to ensure that this assistance reaches every person in need. Particular attention is being paid to older people, persons with disabilities, and anyone who is unable to care for themselves due to their health condition or other circumstances. Twenty-five buses with a total capacity of 750 passengers have been prepared, along with ambulances for people with limited mobility. ❗️Another equally important priority is ensuring that civilians have the opportunity to leave the city. Everyone who wishes to leave Oleshky will be given the opportunity to do so safely. At the same time, those who decide to remain will be able to stay and will receive all the necessary humanitarian assistance. At this stage, it is equally important that both sides observe the ceasefire. I would also like to express my special gratitude to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. We continue our work. I thank Russian Human Rights Commissioner Yana Lantratova for her cooperation in carrying out this mission. ☝️Special thanks to U.S. @FLOTUS for her mediation and coordination efforts. Our work is ongoing. I will keep you informed about further steps and results.

#Putin on the phone call with Stubb and Støre and relations with #Europe: „A number of issues came up during the conversation. I believe this (phone call) was the right thing to do. After all, there are people in Europe who do not want to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia, as some do. Instead, they want to establish a constructive dialogue. We support any initiatives aimed at restoring relations with European countries—whether with the EU or on a bilateral basis. Many people talk of nothing but preparing for war by 2030. We are ready, but we do not want any war with Europe. If they want one, let them prepare. But they have till now not achieved their goal of inflicting a strategic defeat on Russia. It is unlikely that this will be possible by 2030. And if things go too far, there will be no winners at all.“

“The vulnerability of maritime routes has increased the strategic importance of overland transport corridors. Kazakhstan must seize this historic opportunity to become a leading logistics hub in Eurasia in practice,” Tokayev said.

Norwegian PM Støre has rejected a Financial Times report claiming Putin spent most of a 90-minute call with him and Finnish President lecturing them on medieval Slavic history. Støre said Putin instead discussed events from 2014 onward and that speaking time was roughly equal. Source: TV 2

Alas, prime minister Støre tells Norwegian newspaper VG that FT’s sources lied about Putin reading him and Stubb a history lecture during the phone call. He is asking FT to issue a correction. The story did sound like a typical psy-ops product the warmongering community has been churning out in industrial quantities since 2014. Like madcap narratives about toilets in Russia or mass defenestrations. meduza.io/news/2026/10/29/pr…
Claims by FT sources about Putin spending most of the call with Støre/Stubb ranting about medieval Slavic history don’t quite square with either Kremlin’s or Norwegian/Finnish readouts. Nordic leaders called the conversation “substantive”. But these claims reinforce a repetitive psy-ops narrative and bizarrely align with Carl Bildt’s mediocre joke posted right after the news of the call arrived. Which makes me wonder about those sources.

4/5 #Mali illustrates these priorities. It hopes to discuss accelerating a Russian-backed nuclear power plant project, developing mineral processing and securing supplies of Russian goods on preferential terms.

5/5 The summit also has a diplomatic dimension. Russia’s Foreign Ministry says it hopes to facilitate dialogue between #Eritrea and #Ethiopia amid ongoing tensions, offering a platform for negotiations.

I live in Brazil and have made ZERO election-related market recommendations. Bolsonaro is an absolute idiot. Any normal boss or business owner would find it utterly disgusting to mock a worker for losing a finger on the job in a factory. Coming from a daddy’s boy who has never worked outside politics? Oh, my... 🤦‍♂️

Brazil's Election: The far-right is pushing this narrative while leaving out half the story. Check the timeline and the numbers and the whole thing falls apart: October 25: Earlier in the day, @FlavioBolsonaro (PL) bragged on social media about having 200,000+ volunteer poll watchers in electoral zones. ~1pm: @LulaOficial (PT) files 1 request to extend voting (0603389-27.2026.6.00.0000), plus 1 addendum around 3pm. ~3pm: @FlavioBolsonaro (PL) ALSO asks to extend voting, with 2 separate requests (0603394-49.2026.6.00.0000 and 0603393-64.2026.6.00.0000). ~4pm: @LulaOficial takes his request to the STF. ~5pm: TSE president hadn't ruled yet. Zanin notes that BOTH candidates asked for an extension and orders it only for polling stations still open. ~8pm: TSE president Nunes Marques, appointed by Bolsonaro himself, declares Lula the winner and states on the record that the extension did not affect the result or compromise the voting system. After 8pm: the heads of the Chamber and the Senate, and international leaders, recognize the result. Now the math. Only 0.027% of votes came in after 5pm: 34,424 out of 127,697,270 (excluding abroad). @LulaOficial won by ~4.4M. He grew ~10M from the 1st round, @FlavioBolsonaro ~4M. That +14M came from fewer blank/null votes, third-party voters and lower abstention. 34k late votes don't flip a 4.4M lead. Sources: public TSE ballot box logs, official TSE results, TSE/STF filings (0603389-27.2026.6.00.0000, 0603394-49.2026.6.00.0000, 0603393-64.2026.6.00.0000).

Lula is the first presidential candidate in Brazilian history to finish second in the first round and still win the presidency in the runoff.
