I understand why the writer chose that title—but respectfully, I see things differently. I’ve been incredibly blessed in my life, and “unlucky” is the last word I’d ever use to describe myself. Sure, the tough moments make for compelling stories, but I’ve had the joy of spending my entire life playing or coaching baseball—how lucky is that? For the past 23 years (with one unforgettable year at Hillcrest), I’ve lived my life on a pro or college baseball field. I wouldn’t trade a single relationship, championship, road trip, wedding, job gained or lost, hours of field work, practice, opening day, senior day, draft day, or even late-night bus karaoke for anything. God has always provided, and I trust He always will. A new chapter is beginning—and I’m ready. Philippians 4:19
