Cops lie.
Cops do not need more training.
Body cameras do not prevent police violence (police *are* violence).
Police do not keep us safe (police *are* unsafe).
We do not need to diversify police.
Police must be abolished. In our lifetime.

Why choose massive increases to policing when you could have chosen paid sick days?

A motion to reduce Toronto police budget by 10% was withdrawn in City Council. In the same meeting, discussion turned to modernizing police & increasing the budget by $50mil over 10yrs for things like body cams.
The demand to defund police is being manipulated to fund them more.

Asked about alternatives to police, in the Toronto City Council meeting, Police Chief @marksaunderstps said they are just “concepts.”
“Police” is also a concept, envisioned through settler militias & slave patrols.
Abolition imagines freedom, without institutions of violence.

the most consequential item city council will vote on this week is mayor tory's proposal to give the police body-worn cameras
cameras can capture violence but they don't stop it. we must defeat this proposal
this is a thread of councillors we must sway
