This tinyurl.com/ty2sastr is a really interesting new review paper from India that provides an overview of how plants use exudates to attract endophytes from the rhizosphere, how endophytes permeate roots and evade plant immune chemicals, and all the different things that endophytes do within plants, including making various compounds (phytohormones, secondary metabolites, VOC's) and enzymes that are used in many ways by the plant for immune function, growth, insect deterrence, root structure alteration, etc.
The paper also briefly addresses potential applications of endophytes in biotech, pharma and Ag. By extension, though not discussed, there's also a lot of potential applications in nutraceuticals, and the whole notion of "one health" as that notion is used in microbial ecology.
Unfortunately, this isn't an open source paper. So, if you want to read the paper in its entirety and don't have access through your institution for this paper, just DM me your EM and I'll send you a pdf copy.

This is a geometry problem. Fresh off @jasonmauck1 “Farm Weird” event…can the $/acre of pyramid blocks outpace a flat-top corn field? Build a 6-8 row wide pyramid that catches more light, closer to the ear. Short corn on the outside rows, moderates next, giraffes in the center..

Chemicals will be restricted or banned, synthetic fertilizer is over -applied, we are over supplied on commodities, and #farm profitability is often dependent on government backstops.
Maybe it’s time for all of us to “farm weird.” @jasonmauck1

More classic @jasonmauck1 from the farm weird field day today in Gaston, IN.
Great event. Doubt you will find a gathering of more out of the box, passonate farmers anywhere. Diverse group. Outstand leadership @jasonmauck1 !
I highly recommend it.

.@Jasonmauck1 on fire at FarmWeird @AcresUSA field day in Indiana today.
If you haven’t dig into his awesome work on really cropping, I would suggest checking it out.
$500 an acre more from relay cropping than straight cropping is kind of a big deal. Plus having much greater resilience for both too wet and too dry.

I remember driving to @AcresUSA south of Chicago metro ... maybe 30-35 miles and not believing how a Trillion dollar economy had no impact on land use so
close. I'm sure there are some great farms/farmers in this area... but the best we can come up with is corn/beans/solar panels/wind?
Live a little. Stop the wind, get some rays, hear something mooing

In 1976 Charles Walters described an Idaho consultants' demonstration of growing 6000 lb of beef per acre.
There is a lot of untapped potential in forage production, if we managed forage agronomy as well as we did other crops.

How did the first year of owning acres U.S.A. go? This past year has been a whirlwind. Taking on Acres U.S.A.® was the most important risk I’ve ever taken, and living it for a year has solidified just how meaningful this journey is.
