My 3.5 years working for BBC Sport ended on Friday due to financial cuts. I'm very sad. I have wonderful colleagues who I'll miss and am very proud of the important work we do. If you would like to hire an award-winning journalist, producer, editor and director, get in touch.

abdul el sayed and every muslim person around him has been called a radical islamic jihadist terrorist every single day by the entire political spectrum since he won the primary and i haven’t seen a single think piece or major media interview of an arab voter abt how this makes them feel. arab and muslim voters combined make up almost 4% of the electorate. jewish voters make up 1.4% & many of those jewish voters aren’t zionists or will let israel get in the way of preserving american democracy. so we’ve heard endlessly from a tiny group of potential spoiler voters who aren’t getting their way on a deeply unpopular issue- why?
If you're trying to understand why so many Michigan Jewish Democrats are defecting, I wrote in August about it. It's not, per se, about foreign policy. theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0…

Malcolm Gladwell is a fucking fraud and has made a career and millions just spewing bullshit that falls apart if you have a working brain or decide to lightly fact-check him. A phenomenally stupid man and grifter.
I have just published a piece that is very important to me. It's about why so many "progressives" and people on "the left" are lying to us right now about crime, safety, and repression, and what we should be doing instead. equalityalec.substack.com/p/…

By the end of the decade @MetroMayorSteve is going have about £0.5 billion extra a year to play with. He has no excuse now not to invest in the infrastructure the city region desperately needs. Things like a rail link to the airport, a tram network, expanding Merseyrail..
Healey: "fiscal devolution" will see "100% of business rates retained locally by the end of the decade". This is fantastic news. From 2028, a share of income tax revenue will also go to mayors and local authorities, that’s besides additional powers from 2028 to introduce overnight visitor levys.

contradictions under capitalism are heightening, parasitic capital in the imperial core refuses to make even the smallest concessions to the working class w modest social democracy. abdul isn’t even a socialist, and yet the media still considers his populist demands a bridge too far. we must continue to organize. soon big tech & the remaining us business tyrants will have a big decision to make; will they continue the democratic experiment, or will they see fascism as the only stable path for continued extraction. to the third world our impact has been violent and destabilizing, but now, imperialism will turn inward - we must fight back against it. this will be an existential struggle.
"Do you worry [Abdul El-Sayed] is a bit too left wing to win in Michigan?" Michigan voter "At this point what do we have to worry about? Anything but what we have. We're on our way to hell so at this point socialist, socialise, social, dont matter to me, lower my cost of living"

Everyone needs to know what actually happened in Serbia. Instead of students just protest against their government, the students organized themselves into a student list and ran in elections against their government—and they have just won. Dear Serbia, congratulations on your victory; you have just opened a new door in protesting. This is history

it’s so funny these idiots try to act like socialists aren’t regular upstanding members of society trying to improve the awful system we’re subjected to. they think we are like the nazis on the far right and get mad when normal people don’t feel that way.
"Abdul is not a socialist" ...He just hangs out with @DemSocialists a lot 😉

#News: @thebeatles are on their way home. 🎶 And they'll be bigger than ever! Apple Corps Ltd has unveiled plans for a spectacular new 100,000 sq ft Beatles experience in the heart of Liverpool, opening in 2028. Situated within the former market hall within St Johns Shopping Centre, it will be the first official fan experience to be operated in Liverpool by the company, creating a truly world class authentic destination befitting of the world’s greatest musical legacy. Four times the size of the existing The Beatles Story, the new immersive attraction will take fans from post-war Liverpool to Hamburg, The Cavern, Beatlemania, Shea Staidum, Abbey Road and beyond. Liverpool’s iconic St Johns Beacon will also become home to a new Yellow Submarine experience, giving fans the opportunity to enjoy a panoramic 360-degree view of Liverpool, taking in the landmarks and key locations where pop history was made. And whilst the new attraction will celebrate Liverpool’s greatest musical export and draw visitors from around the world, its impact will also support the city’s next generation of talent. Every ticket sold to The Beatles Story will contribute to the The Apple Corps Liverpool Trust, a charitable initiative established to provide financial support and opportunities for emerging Liverpool artists and local cultural endeavours. If I was Prime Minister , if I was Burnham , watching European cities ablaze . . . I’d instigate a ‘wealth tax’ at about 9.01am tomorrow morning . Just saying . Or should we just ‘eat cake’ ?

There are practical and financial reasons why we don’t have a direct train to Liverpool Airport but it would be a real game-changer if we did.
Having a train that takes you directly to the airport is genuinely one of the top 10 things a city can offer. No expensive taxis, no sitting in traffic, no begging someone to drop you off. Just get on the train and arrive at the airport. Every major city should have this.

John Chapman from Poole was murdered by the Israeli military while working for World Central Kitchen. The Government must secure justice for John and impose an arms embargo. We must have no connection with a military that kills aid workers and denies any accountability.

Keeping everyone (including Africans) completely ignorant about Africa and the central role it plays in the economic and natural world is a core feature of Europeanised education, not a bug. You're not supposed to know that the DRC is the most resource-rich country in the world, with an estimated $24 trillion sitting under its soil. You're not supposed to know that the rise of "western civilisation" from the 15th century on was entirely made possible by European contact with Africa, and that the resources and labour extracted from coastal West Africa from 1492 onwards are the entire reason why both American continents exist in their current form. You're not supposed to know that both WW1 and WW2 were essentially wars fought over the right to African colonial domination and expansion, and that even the uranium that was used in "Little Boy" and "Fat Man" dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki came from Shinkolobwe uranium mine in eastern DRC. You're not supposed to know that the reason the country of France exists in its current form is because tens of thousands of conscripted West African soldiers fought and won against the Nazis in Europe, and the French thereafter shipped them back to West Africa and massacred them at Camp Thiaroye in Senegal to avoid paying them their due wages. You're not supposed to know that there was nothing cold about the so-called Cold War, because the vast majority of the hot theaters it was physically fought in were on the continent of Africa. (Zimbabwe, DRC, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Angola, Eritrea, Zambia etc). You're not supposed to know that the ongoing Ukraine war and the war in the Sahel are in fact the same conflict being fought by the same 2 sides, and that the reason France is desperately pushing funding and arms to Ukraine even as it falls into internal crisis is that Ukraine is acting as its proxy army in West Africa, as it tries to regain its lost colonial territories there, especially Niger where the cheap yellowcake uranium for its famously cheap nuclear energy used to come from before the 2023 revolution. You're definitely not supposed to know that the entire global economy and system of trade as you know it is built on ruthless extraction from Africa and ensuring that Africa does not control anything it exports. You're not supposed to know that "Italian leather" doesn't come from Italy - it comes from Kano, Nigeria. You're not supposed to know that "Swiss chocolate" does not exist because cocoa does not grow anywhere in Switzerland or Europe - it comes from Ghana, Cote d'Ivoire and Nigeria. You're not supposed to know that Israel and the UAE control the global diamond and gold markets even though Israel has no diamond mine and the UAE has zero gold mines, because both resources are literally being stolen from the DRC and Sudan on an industrial basis. You're basically not supposed to understand that the entire geopolitical world as you know it, rests entirely on extraction from Africa, poverty of Africans, and your own ignorance about where everything you use comes from. Completely deliberate 500+ year-old feature, not accidental bug.
How did school teach us about the Amazon so much & never once mention the Congo Basin? It's the world's largest tropical carbon sink. The planet is literally breathing through it & nobody thought we should know 😳

The propaganda is DEAD. Palestine will be free 🤲🏽🇵🇸 big up @ZachBryankip and the gang
Tonight at Gillette Stadium, Zach Bryan, one of the biggest country music artists in the world, wore a Free Palestine shirt onstage. Gillette Stadium is owned by Robert Kraft, who pushed Ed Sheeran and his promoter to drop Macklemore from his tour. Bryan isn’t just a major country artist. He is one of the biggest live draws in music, filling stadiums across the United States and in major cities around the world. Bryan served eight years on active duty in the US Navy and served overseas in Bahrain and Djibouti. Members of Bryan’s band also wore shirts supporting the Palestinian cause, including his drummer, who wore a jersey honoring the memory of Hind Rajab. Zach Bryan has a second show at Gillette Stadium tomorrow, Saturday night.

Klopp is the best person
The controversy between Germany’s far-right AfD party and Germany national team head coach Jürgen Klopp continues. At the centre of the dispute are Klopp’s public criticisms of the AfD’s ideas, values and policies. AfD deputy leader Kay Gottschalk wrote on social media following Germany’s defeat to Greece: “Certain virtues and the spirit of teamwork are cultural values that develop over centuries and are shaped by shared historical experiences.” With these remarks, Gottschalk drew a comparison between the German national team of 1990 and the current squad. While the 1990 team consisted entirely of white players, Klopp’s current squad includes eight Black players. Klopp responded to Gottschalk’s remarks at a press conference in Munich: “Is Germany not white enough? Complete nonsense. I won’t comment on it. There is absolutely no reason to take these people seriously. You won’t hear my opinion on this. In everyday life, I have little time for nonsense, and even less on social media.” Klopp made the remarks ahead of Germany’s UEFA Nations League match against Serbia, which Germany won yesterday.
