I think health care professionals need to show a bit more restraint in wanting to be pedantic or 'correct' A person sharing the difficulty of their pregnancy on the social media isn't the time to be quoting all kinds of statistics they didn't ask you for

When you’ve led resuscitation during cardiac arrests involving women during pregnancy, labour or the postpartum period, on the labour ward or in theatre, then come, let’s talk. 🗣️ Until then, I’m stepping away from this conversation. Medicine doesn’t always offer categorical yes-or-no answers. So YES, pregnancy can be life-threatening and sometimes fatal/ a death sentence ; whilst others might experience uncomplicated pregnancies. Both realities deserve acknowledgement. Hopefully, we’ll reach a point where every woman can describe her experience without fear of being dismissed, and fellow women can empathise whether or not they’ve experienced something similar.

Regardless of my response , my viewpoint was passed across whilst highlighting why the wording/ context might not be ideal … Nowhere is it ideal to use words such as “Stop it” or calling someone’s view “a dishonest take” simply because we disagree. ❌❌❌ We’re not in primary school. That language comes across as patronising, dismissive ❗️❗️ And I won’t go back and forth with you as we’re definitely on different wavelengths on the subject matter and the viewpoints ..
Before you drop your points, make sure you know the context! For your viewing pleasure, below is the reference tweet. There was no Simile, metaphor or personification... "I personally unfollowed and blocked Mummy Zee because she said 'Pregnancy Is Not A Death Sentence' " The problem with your response is you chose not to look at the overall picture. I support Women largely... but it's my duty not to be skewed to the RIGHT or LEFT when it comes to this kind of matter. Address it without adding figure of speeches!

Suddenly we are being literal and metaphors do not exist in English language anymore. Woww. I learn new things everyday on Twitter.
Just to be clear, a death sentence means that the person sentenced will (definitely) die.

Nothing ooo to compared to giving birth.
I've never been pregnant but I've been very constipated before In that moment sitting on the toilet bowl, bleeding, legs shaking, worried about rupturing an undiscovered aneurysm from all that valsalva...I think I begged God to take me And that's nothing compared to delivery

So weird
Random woman: 'FOR ME, MY pregnancy felt like a death sentence' Random twitter accounts: have you died before? It's a lie, pregnancy is generally safe, you don't know what death sentence is Like, let's try to actually stop and think about that whole exchange for a second

I will incorporate this Pregnancy is a death sentence versus felt like a death sentence scenario When teaching consultation skills in the next GP induction series. It is a good example of to use .

It’s the exact thing a lot do in consulting rooms by being dismissive so nothing new tbh.

I believe we can have civil discussions without saying “Stop it” or calling someone’s view “a dishonest take” etc simply because we disagree. ❌❌❌ We’re not in primary school. We won’t always agree, but that language comes across as patronising and dismissive !!! Depending on the context, absolute terms such as “must”, “never” and “is not” can come across as dismissive or leave little room for individual circumstances.
Let's be honest in our discussion. Let's be. The referenced person is not the reason for the discussion. The discuss dates back to a long time quote... PREGNANCY IS NOT A DEATH SENTENCE. That is what is being addressed. Nobody will have any issue with anyone who said "PREGNANCY FELT LIKE A DEATH SENTENCE" STOP joining them to skew the discussion... Stop it immediately! No sensible Obstetrician will ignore a woman who said "OOH, MY PREGNANCY FELT LIKE A DEATH SENTENCE" If you can see what is being addressed... Except you want to lie to yourself and can't see the comments of women... many are painting it like... PREGNANCY IS A DEATH SENTENCE. Except you've not been on TWITTER FOR YEARS... then this your response is Valid. However, if you have been on X for years following the discuss... THIS IS A VERY DISHONEST TAKE.

There are times I have also deleted a tweet only to ho and check and I saw I was right and I brought it back . We should be less judgmental and on the other hand we should be more receptive to correction

Bruh I am even more fiercly pro choice than I have ever been,no woman should ever have to go through pregnancy if she doesn't want to. It's such a life altering experience, that could literally cost you your life.
I hate to play this card but if you're a man...kindly sit the discussion out if all you want to do is telling people how pregnancy is a walk in the park and quote statistics

I believe it’s little boys that always want to argue this and of course wicked men because once you experience a woman go through childbirth, your body go calm.
