It's been a while since I started evaluating my memory retrieval on LongMemEval-S, and I’ve found some interesting trade-offs.
- Hybrid retrieval performs well, but increasing the number of retrieved results improves recall at the cost of a much larger context and higher inference costs.
Also, entity-linked retrieval showed only marginal improvements, while bounded associative retrieval added significant latency. Interesting!!
the takeaway?
more context doesn’t always mean better efficiency. huh more to go

by the end, you'll understand most of the ideas behind how modern LLMs are pretrained, finetuned, and aligned.
on this day, one of my friend got rejected in the final round of an interview and he was devastated to the core.
I remember sitting with him for an hour that day, bringing him chocolates and trying to make him feel a little better. He kept sending me reels every day that pretty much summed up how disappointed and low he was feeling.
but tables have turned today, and bro got placed ,tbh i am feeling excited and crazyyy :))
and on top of that, two of my friends got placed today, and honestly, seeing them get through after everything makes me so happy.
He's probably sleeping rn, but the moment I saw the results, i had to text him lmao. ❤️

i was literally sitting in a room with him just an hour ago. the floor was empty, and we were talking about the job market, placements, and whether we'd even be able to land a job in this market or not.
often he used to doubt himself, wondering if he'd actually make it. but one thing about him was that he never gave up.
But he was ready to take whatever opportunity came his way, even if it meant starting with a lower-paying job. all he wanted is just to get started!!
and today, he got placed at a really good company.
I've seen his determination since day one of college, and man, seeing things finally work out for him makes me genuinely so happy.
sometimes, you don't need to have it all figured out.
You just need to keep going and LFGGGGGG🫂❤️
