From 1 December 2026, Google will take responsibility for collecting and remitting Value Added Tax (VAT) on paid app downloads and in-app purchases made by Google Play customers in Tanzania.
The change brings Tanzania closer to the digital tax collection arrangements already operating in countries such as Uganda and Kenya.

Diseases don't have any political affiliation.
As many theories continue circulating about what led to Kapere’s death, I have watched this video and listened carefully. From the woman’s narration, one cannot ignore the possibility that financial stress may have played a significant role. She speaks of rent arrears, lack of food, transport challenges and other struggles.
But my heart has one BIG question for the NUP family.
Yes, the government in power may not be treating you fairly, and we understand the political challenges you face. However, many of your leaders are financially blessed and well-resourced.
Recently, your President, Bobi Wine @HEBobiwine , reportedly facilitated Kapere’s trip to the UAE. Kapere was deeply loyal to NUP and Bobi Wine in particular, to the extent of reportedly turning down money offers at some events because he did not want to appear disloyal to his party and president.
My question is simple: After all that loyalty, love and commitment, was there really no one within the NUP leadership consistently following up on Kapere’s welfare?
Did nobody ever ask how he was surviving, whether he had food, whether he could afford transport or whether he needed help with rent?
Sometimes support does not require millions. Even a little financial assistance, offered at the right time, can save someone from overwhelming distress.
I am not claiming to know the actual cause of Kapere’s death. That deserves proper investigation. But this should be a moment of reflection for all political formations.
LET'S STOP THE POLITICS OF HATRED. LET'S THINK, THINK AGAIN AND FOLLOW WISELY.
Human life must always come before political loyalty. 🇺🇬

New Bishops elected for Mbale and North West Ankole Dioceses
The House of Bishops of Church of Uganda sitting at Syamalede Archdeaconry headquarters in Busia District, Bukedi Diocese has today elected The Very Rev Canon Eridad Milton Shissa as the 9th Bishop of Mbale Diocese and Rev CanonCaleb Twinamatsiko as the 2nd Bishop of North West Ankole Diocese.
*The Very Rev Canon Eridad Milton Shissa:*
He was born on 30th September 1968, got born again on 13th April 1996. He was ordained in 1996 and priested in 1997.
He is currently the Sub Dean of St Andrew’s Cathedral Mbale. He previously served as the Diocesan Secretary of Mbale Diocese.
He is married to Beatrice Sarah Shissa and God has blessed them with children.
The Very Rev Canon Eridad Milton Shissa will be consecrated and enthroned the 9th Bishop of Mbale Diocese on Sunday 24th January 2027 at St Andrew’s Cathedral, Mbale.
He will succeed Bishop John Wilson Nandaah, the 8th Bishop of Mbale Diocese.
Rev Canon Caleb Twinamatsiko:
He was born on 16th April 1969 in Kigando III in Ngango Ward, Igorora Town Council, Ibanda District.
He is married to Hope Asiimwe in 2000 and God has blessed them with two children.
He holds a Bachelor of Divinity from Uganda Christian University.
He is currently the Rector of Christ Church Pennfield, Diocese of Fredericton in New Brunswick, Canada.
Rev Canon Caleb Twinamatsiko will be consecrated and enthroned the 2nd Bishop of North West Ankole Diocese on Sunday 7th February 2027 at St Paul’s Cathedral Ibanda.
He will succeed Bishop Amos Magezi, the first Diocesan Bishop of North West Ankole Diocese.
