Because according to Unfinished Tales, once they were embodied, the Istari did not retain their memory of Valinor, so Gandalf does not remember being Olorin. The show is actually aligning with Tolkien and isn’t diminishing Gandalf, but accurately representing Tolkien’s depiction

Barahir and his men were hunted like wild beasts; and they retreated to the barren highland above the forest, and wandered among the tarns and rocky moors of that region, furthest from the spies and spells of Morgoth. Their bed was the heather and their roof the cloudy sky.

Earlier today, we detected evidence of a security incident on #AO3. We are still in the early stages of investigating. No AO3 data has been deleted. All your works, bookmarks, kudos, etc., are safe. Learn more at otwstatus.org/incidents/g12j…
We estimate that service restoration for #AO3 will take around 2 weeks but it could be up to 4 weeks. We are hopeful that we will be able to bring the site back up in a degraded state sooner. Refer to our status page for updates: otwstatus.org/

I would like to welcome (Mae Govannen!) any newcomers to the trop fandom, particularly those who are brought in by Celeborn for Season 3 of The Rings of Power. We hope you will have a lot of fun discussing season 3 with us, which will be the best season yet for sure!

This Celebrimbor revealed, because neither the Seven nor the Nine did he value as he valued the Three; the Seven and the Nine were made with Sauron's aid, whereas the Three were made by Celebrimbor alone, with a different power and purpose.

There’s a reason the great dystopian novels envision a world without literacy. Those books warned about the very age we’re now living in. Those who abandon reading & writing are surrendering their powers of thinking. What’s shocking is that so many would surrender so readily.

Always wonderful to know that my music can help an actor, especially an incredibly talented and dedicated one, get into character on set!
