How do "friendly" rhizobia build a legume nodule? @AlbinTeulet found that some may carry hidden transcription factors - proteins that mimic DNA-binding folds to enter the plant nucleus and rewrite its developmental program.

Since my first few posts I have been remarkably reserved in commenting on this (by my own standards). I also made several clarifying remarks to calm any alarmist or unfair accusations about the quality of Thermo Fisher's antibodies, shame they wouldn't afford me the same!

ALT Composite image showing a pumpkin used for microscopy. A photo of the whole pumpkin with a small 2mm square cut out indicates the area imaged. The main background shows the orange flesh captured with a Keyence digital microscope, with the darker ridge on the left marking the skin. An inset black graph displays the Raman spectrum with strong beta-carotene peaks, explaining the pumpkinās orange colour. Another inset image from cryo-SEM reveals tightly packed oval cells that make up the pumpkinās fleshy interior. Images by Raymond Wightman and Daniel Sparrow.
