F1’s new engine proposal looks quite good, intro in 2030/31 Reported by the ever interesting @andrewbensonf1 as V8 with slightly bigger capacity and more torque ICE torque + smaller turbo on a restricted boost pressure. Hybrid energy system 100kw generally then an extra 100kw push to pass. Initial reaction is they will be *much* easier to drive with more linear power delivery and less lag. Lighter and cheaper. Why not reserve the full power pack for the push to pass though… an extra 130bhp is just going to get ‘lost in the noise’ bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/art…

A fun curveball for all in Texas is that COTA's built on subsiding/shifting ground, so bumps move year to year. A strength in one sector can disappear if a bump lands in the wrong place this particular time around. Old scans are a starting point; Friday tells the truth, and you have to react! 2026 changes: T9-11 resurfaced, bumps smoothed before T12 and T19

This time, for @theintercoolerx, I challenged myself to share an opinion about the automotive world that I'm sure not everyone will agree with. Your 'race car for the road' is not even remotely close... and that's a good thing! Read the rest here the-intercooler.com/library/…
‘Did any of this make the Huracán STO materially faster in the real world? Of course not. It’s pure theatre.’ @AlexBrundle says ‘a race car for the road’ is one of the most durable lines in marketing. However, while it may have been true decades ago, it certainly isn’t now. ⬇️

Exciting weekend! Was very happy to be racing our GT3 car in Portimão. There were some ups and downs, but as a team we learnt a lot. I also feel I need to speak up about the hate and harassment Chris has received after the race. Everyone can have their opinions about what happened on track, but these personal attacks are not okay. Chris had a really strong stint and mistakes can happen. There’s no place for this kind of abuse in our sport or anywhere else.

This is the best drive ever I’ve seen from Verstappen. And it’s over P9 at the moment! The race craft on display is outrageous in @GTWorldChEu

Might I add @addison_djra and @osbornejoe are so great in the comm box. Know the series in depth, Joe has drive almost every chassis. 0 nonsense, 0 errors. All in the dark, behind headlights. Tough to do, and they do it so well.

I spend a fair bit of time in historic racing, as many know and so I talk to a serious quota of ‘greatest generation’ racing drivers. Here’s a few things millennials like me should really note - they are in their 70’s/80’s now… They arrive on time without fail, (I’m talking - to the literal minute) explain patiently and quietly with zero pretence despite objectively terrifying feats/stories. They minimise their own and maximise everyone else’s contribution to their usually significant results and achievements. And often tell the story from somebody else’s perspective These are people forged by different world. Roll your eyes as much as you want, we need to grab their view of the world before it’s gone.

Bedford Autodrome, a variety of cars and a head to head with @carlfogarty as he exchanges bikes for cars. In a @bikesure vs @adrianflux collab. Who will be faster! And are 4 wheeled racers really! ‘A bunch of pussies’ 🤣 youtu.be/r2q5n-UNLOk?is=DtJT…

A drop in visit to the series I spent so much time driving in over the years. A real pleasure to host the @EuropeanLMS awards ceremony alongside the excellent @StephWentworth_ A great chance to MC an event, which is an art in itself to master and also see some friends with whom I’ve shared the track. Congrats to champions and victors in all classes of the @LigierEuroSerie @Michelin_Sport Le Mans Cup and of course the ELMS. Overall championship honours went to @UnitedAutosport for the first time since 2020, when I was on the stage in a different kind of suit! (For second 😤🤣) How time flies!

Just catching up with the weekend and watching Louise Goodman call her final weekend of BTCC. What a benchmark she is for fully engaged no BS; on the ground; motorsport broadcasting. Respect and congratulations on an immense career.
