More here from @GMIAU about the conditions that people housed in hotels are living in
🏡New asylum hotels blog: Food and conditions🍽️
We spoke to people living in hotels in the North West.
"All of them are fried food, frozen food. It’s not fresh."
"Same place – eat, and sleep, and remember, and study, and everything is in this room."

On World Refugee Day, I'm sharing my humble journey from seeking safety to becoming a doctor:
. 1999 - forced to leave family in Afghanistan to seek safety in UK aged 15 having lived childhood in war and camps
. 2001 - started college (A-levels) with not much formal education or command of English
. 2003 - got admitted to study medicine at @Cambridge_Uni despite many discouraging, saying I wasn't white and not educated enough
. 2006 - graduated from Cambridge and finished studies at Harvard and Imperial despite battling PTSD and loneliness
. 2010 - qualified as a doctor, and have since been proudly serving people in the NHS and 🌎 as a doctor.
If there’s one thing I’ve learnt on this journey, it’s this - refugees are not victims. We are survivors, dreamers, contributors. The bravery of all those who seek safety should be celebrated.
So sad. And especially tragic knowing how frequently negative asylum decisions are later shown to be wrong
Absolutely heartbroken 💔 to see unaccompanied Afghan asylum seeker took his own life after Home Office refused his asylum claim.
How would you feel @SuellaBraverman if he was your son and had to flee for his life?

My letter to the Home Secretary. She is offended by Gary Lineker? I am offended by her Bill.

Replying to @drjessmorgan_
We need to create spaces where we can talk about this. It rehumanises us. Some prefer smaller groups or 1:1. Schwartz rounds, Balint groups, compassion circles, tea and natter groups.
a few doodles on our latest Schwartz round..
