In 2024, "centrism" isn't cautious, it's reckless. It creates the conditions under which the radical racist right is surging.
Fight the far right by redistributing ill-gotten gains of pandemic profiteers + polluters to pay for Green New Deal-style programs. That's pragmatic.
🔥Superb point from @NaomiAKlein
Labour are making no sudden moves that may spook their GE chances- but if they *do* keep the tight economic straitjackets of the last govt (Brexit included btw)…
…they risk the Scholz error, teeing up a far right surge.

Today we begin our JR against the govt for licensing more oil.
Win or lose, the writing is on’t wall - whether it’s enormous energy bills, spiking food prices or being evacuated from your European holiday - FF are harming us all. It’s time govt stopped throwing fuel on the fire.

News headlines tonight: devastating extreme weather in Europe and India, followed by reports about how both Labour and Tories are considering rowing back on critical climate policies.
It couldn’t feel more dystopian.

This year's British LGBT Awards are sponsored by fossil fuel corporations and funders BP, Shell, HSBC, BNP Paribas and Macquarie Capital 🤮
Most nominees appear unaware of who the award sponsors are, so we need to let them know! Tweet them using the tool in the thread below 👇
SUCCESS!! After hearing the arguments, the judge granted us permission to proceed to a full Judicial Review of the govt’s entire licensing round - over 100 applications for new drilling. The science is clear - no new oil & gas to keep 1.5 alive.
See you in court @grantshapps
Time is quickly running out - we need to end our dependence on oil and gas now. But the govt continues to ignore reality and turn its back on the planet. That’s why we’re here at the High Court challenging their decision to licence more drilling in the North Sea.

Truly mindbending reading the Casey Report when the govt is handing the police more powers and the Opposition is promising more cops on the street.
The police don't keep us safe and reform will never be enough. Roll back powers and fund communities now.

Really grateful to have been invited to speak to students at @Cambridge_Uni about the future of climate activism and how together we can (& must) change the world 🌍 🌱
Now is the time for bold vision and real leadership to take us into an equitable sustainable future. Greener, fairer, kinder. Great to see @GNDRising leading the charge - Labour must do better. Give us a future to vote for.
When Shell hits your boat with a court order, always have a second boat 😉

Shell haven’t found a magic money tree… this is our money from our pockets, which has been funnelled straight to them by a political system which doesn’t just encourage, but actively incentivises profit over people. theguardian.com/business/202…
Mad respect to the @Shelter staff striking. Out on’t picket in the freezing cold. These ppl give everything they have to solving the housing emergency and preventing homelessness, they deserve to be paid a fair wage & not face the threat of homelessness themselves

Together, we can disrupt the political system.
Together, we can transform society so that it works for us all.
But we need 200 new monthly supporters by the end of the year to power this fight ✊⏳

“The climate crisis is a symptom of the inequality crisis”. Listening to @fortuashla always gets me feeling energised for the fight for the future we need to see ⚡️🌍☀️

Working on this with the insanely talented @mariejacquemn was one of the best things I've ever done. Solidarity, community, relentless strength and optimism in the face of decades of government neglect. People deserve better, its time the govt worked for us. #CostOfLivingFilm
🚨 NEW: What do you do when the government abandons your community?
Persist against all odds.

Huge thanks to @GPManchester for inviting me to speak at their screening of #TheCostOfLiving documentary along with @NEF. Heartening to see communities standing together as we head into a bleak winter. Govt need to step up with emergency support now for the 7m in fuel poverty.
Paid a little visit to the PM’s mansion tonight to remind him of how the rest of us are living ahead of tomorrow’s budget. @RishiSunak theguardian.com/politics/202…
