I'm a commissioning editor and I'm up to the tits in AI-written submissions. They absolutely reek of laziness and stupidity. What's the point of wanting to be a writer but finding writing to be an inconvenience? I delete every one of them.

Tonight, the American people sent a clear message — they want a politics that brings people together rather than divides them, and leaders who offer concrete solutions to the challenges they face.
These results were only possible because outstanding candidates stepped forward in every region of the country — including in areas once considered long shots. They came from different backgrounds and represented a range of political perspectives, but were united by shared values, a belief in public service, and a commitment to putting the people of their districts and states first.
We also owe a debt of gratitude to the thousands of election officials and volunteers from both parties who helped ensure a smooth election and carried out one of the most essential functions of our democracy.
While this administration has another two years in office, our job now is to roll up our sleeves, make changes wherever we have the power to do so, prevent further damage, and lay the groundwork for the future.

I am absolutely sickened by the horrendous comments directed at this heroic young woman who did her duty to the very end.
She wasn’t even the Pilot in Command (PIC). Her job at that time was handling all the comms. The male pilot at the controls had already realized the graveness of the situation and had started praying as there was nothing either of them could do to save the aircraft.
Do not listen to the cockpit audio of her last minutes, please. It should not even have been made public.
Nathalia Filgueiras did her duty under the absolute worst of circumstances. She relayed factual information right up until impact while shoulder-rolling at 60° bank at 600 MPH. The information will be invaluable in the investigation.
Even as she knew her short but amazing 20 years of life were about to end, she devoted those last seconds to saving future lives by providing critical information to ground control that will inevitably save lives in the future by preventing these types of crashes. The very definition of Heroism. At only 20 years old. 😭💔🕯️
Please keep her, her family and the other crash victims in your prayers. 💔😭😢🙏

Nearly 30,000 people were killed or seriously injured on Britain’s roads last year.
That should shape where police focus, not the latest outrage.
It’s time to push the facts to the front. By me in @spectator:

1936 Hetchins Brilliant No. 1
Frame No. 64260 | An Exceptional Survivor
A remarkable survivor from the earliest years of one of Britain's most celebrated lightweight bicycle manufacturers.
Built in April 1936, this Hetchins Brilliant No. 1 represents an important chapter in British cycling history. One of a small number of surviving examples from this pioneering period, it embodies the craftsmanship and innovation that established Hetchins' reputation.
Its provenance is particularly noteworthy. The original Hetchins ledger records W. R. Jones of Dagenham, dated 25 July 1936, providing a rare, documented connection to its first recorded owner.

Wife and I have a thing, if one of us turns a light on the other will hiss like a vampire. Had to rein that in after we were alone in a lift when the doors opened to the bright afternoon sun and I instinctively hissed at the bewildered middle-aged woman stood waiting.

This is a restored Triumph TR6C, an original “Desert Sled,” the model that dominated California off-road motorcycle racing long before the two-strokes from Husqvarna and then from the Japanese arrived and made everything a whole lot more buzzy.

I completed an ancestry DNA test thing for a bit of fun, and discovered I had a half sibling. Worked out my dad of 47 years wasn't my biological dad. Didn't have an inkling. Haven't been able to bring myself to tell anyone. Heads in a blender. Think hard before you do one.
It brings me great pleasure on long motorway drives to respond to the warnings of 'police ahead' on Waze/Google Maps by saying they're no longer there, when in actual fact they're still there dishing out speeding tickets. If you speed, you deserve it.
