I take for granted that California election cycles are exceedingly tame because weโre such a blue state. The only ads we ever get are over individual ballot propositions. It sucks our politics is so lopsided but it makes things peaceful
Was talking to some slightly right leaning folks my age who claim that we should raise taxes on young people "so that old people have enough money for retirement"
Guys I can't do it with the normies anymore

The Catholic Church is running a special on indulgences THIS WEEK ONLY.
Catholics, reminder:
You can free a soul from purgatory every day this week.
From Nov 1โ8, the Church grants a plenary indulgence, applicable to the souls in purgatory, each day you:
1. Visit a cemetery and pray for the dead (even silently)
2. Go to confession (within about 20 days before or after)
3. Receive Holy Communion
4. Pray for the Pope's intentions (an Our Father and Hail Mary is enough)
5. Be detached from all sin, even venial
Today only (All Souls Day): you can also gain one by visiting a church and praying the Our Father and the Creed.
One confession covers the whole week. Communion and the prayer for the Pope are needed for each day's indulgence.
And if you're not fully detached from sin, you still gain a partial indulgence. So go anyway.
Repost this to spread the word. The souls in purgatory need our help.
Seeing whatโs happening on right wing twitter is making me feel like I need to become Uncle Ruckus for chuds

First term cut taxes and deregulated economy. Second term launched war on trade, pushed price controls, and took government ownership of private companies.
I think this is the most important chart of the 2026 election (via @sfcpoll)
A Californianโs senate prediction. Iโm convinced that Ohio could go either way, depending on how much Vivekโs horrible campaign destroys turnout for Husted. Alaska also could be for either. I believe Michigan will be closer than left wingers are expecting.

The first gulp of Church History will make you a Roman Catholic. At the bottom of the glass a German monk whose wife brews great beer is waiting for you.
My top five hymns:
1. When I Survey the Wondrous Cross
2. Glorious Things of Thee Are Spoken
3. Lo He Comes With Clouds Descending
4. Wilt thou forgive that sin?
5. Abide With Me
Can someone explain whatโs going on in Poland rn
You can cancel an election and ban the winner from running (Romania), you can ban your opponents from ever running again (Hungary), you can threaten to ban the main opposition party and subject it to relentless investigations by the secret police (Germany), you can threaten a ban on the leading presidential candidate and make them wear an ankle monitor (France), every member of your circle can be investigated for corruption (Spain), you can try and cancel local elections because you will lose them (Britain), and you can storm the constitutional court with riot police because you want to control it (Poland).
You can just do all these things. The secret is you just have to be on the right side of the European Commission.

Here's an interesting pattern.
"Newer" Protestant denominations have a higher ratio of attendees to members.
In ACNA, there 76 per 100 members.
In older denominations, the ratio is way worse.
For the United Methodists, it's closer to 20 attendees per 100 members.
Interesting stat about Haredi: theyโre maybe the only demographic group where TFR is going up (itโs something like 6 kids nowadays), women have like an 80% and increasing employment rate, and men have a lower and dropping employment rate of like 50%
