"Indian people are like fucking animals."
While waiting to board a flight from Kathmandu to New Delhi, I moved to the side of a crowd in front of the jet bridge to catch up with my mother in line when I heard this man behind me say those words.
His name is Joaquin Bonilla Garcia. He's a Spanish passport holder.
When I called him out on his blatant racism, he remained silent. After the flight, upon realizing I had filed a complaint with the airline, he tried to tell me there was a "misunderstanding." But I heard him loud and clear.
I'm sharing this for two reasons.
1) I believe in freedom of speech, and I believe just as strongly that words have meaning. I think hateful statements should bear consequences. I couldn't track him down, but I would appreciate your help in identifying his community and holding him to account.
2) Racism is alive and well, even (especially?) in unlikely settings. I wasn't expecting to hear this kind of language on a flight within South Asia, surrounded by South Asian people, from a tourist who was visiting the region voluntarily. As an Indian American, I feel the pressure to be extra conscious of my behavior when I'm a visitor in another country. Clearly, others feel the opposite, even more empowered to behave badly when they are away from home.
lol yes, micron $MU, the renowned,,, japanese green tea brand? all i googled was "micron stock"
I jumped on this morning's @bbcworldservice's Newsday radio program to discuss the global economy's dependence on AI stocks & why I think the latest uproar over AI model safety may amount to little more than savvy marketing for OpenAI and Anthropic.
$MRVL stock has roughly doubled since I published this column last January, handily outperforming $AVGO.
I argued at the time that Marvell could win over business from Google — which has since come true, evidenced by its July deal to help Google with TPU-adjacent semis.
Heading into Marvell’s earnings this week, the setup looks totally different, with Broadcom, also a Google partner, trading at a lower multiple of forward revenue.
The market is fickle and fast-changing. Read True Value @theinformation to stay ahead of the curve ;)

A SpaceX-Tesla merger could benefit shareholders.
“A lot of the investors who I spoke to were saying that, look, if I'm an investor in Tesla, I want Elon Musk's incentives to be aligned to create value for me.”
“And so if he's spending all his time on SpaceX, then I'm not necessarily going to capture the value of Musk running those combined companies.” — @AnitaRamaswamy, Financial Analyst Columnist

What are Microsoft’s biggest concerns right now?
According to an investor our reporter @AnitaRamaswamy spoke with, they are facing a “double-whammy” with a major factor being Copilot & the SaaSpocalyse.
“There is this perception that Copilot has not kept up technologically to some of the faster growing alternatives like Claude Cowork.”
love @AnjneyMidha's take comparing GPUs to mangoes on today's @theinformation subscriber call on AI infra hosted by @anissagardizy8.
he says some batches of vera rubins aren't yet ripe...but once they are, everyone will want them! 🥭
because different types of chips aren't compatible in training processes - just as alphonso mangoes and bagepalli mangoes are NOT interchangeable !! - there are pockets of "stranded compute" being wasted, @AnjneyMidha explains
these are not technical problems, but coordination and standardization problems
even different generations of nvidia chips are not necessarily compatible. engineers are building abstraction layers to ensure fungibility across different types. they are like different variants of the same mango type, says @sk7037
i laid out my bull case for MercadoLibre ($MELI) last month. then last friday, Michael Burry of "big short" fame did the same.
since then, the stock is down another ~17%.
this is one of the most misunderstood companies and a crazy obvious buying opp, imo. here's why ⤵️
Gorilla glass maker Corning's stock is up 15% on news of its new Nvidia partnership. True, its fiber optic cables are super important for AI. But here's why I'd proceed with caution.

Replying to @ttunguz
@ttunguz spoke with @AnitaRamaswamy at @theinformation on moats in AI cybersecurity: “Imagine you have a 100,000-person organization. All those people have to come into IT, and it has to go and delete the CrowdStrike agent and then put on the Anthropic agent. What a pain. I’m not going to go through and spend six months of my security team’s time replacing this bit of software, especially if the gain is nothing. So that’s why I think there’s some defensibility. It’s just inertia.”

it's shocking to me that mercadolibre is the biggest tech co in LatAm, growing 30%+ for the last 6 years, generating FCF, expanding into a massively underserved market for financial services, yet it's trading at a decade-low multiple!
so i wrote about it for @theinformation
