Enjoyed this read. Especially:
"Different starting points should be expected.
Exercise variations should be normal, not treated as penalties. Progress should include better control and understanding—not only heavier resistance."
Beyond the Rep: Teaching Strength in K–12 PE
Strength training in PE isn’t about who lifts the most.
It’s about teaching technique, safety, confidence, and choosing the right challenge.
Go beyond counting reps. Teach students how to build strength.

Found another use for a roll of painter’s tape: A Base for a Ball to Help Keep it in Place.
Painter’s tape is definitely one of my Top 10 AdaptedPE “must haves” where would you rank it?
Thanks for the reminder that the need for quality APE is growing and it’s up to all of us in the PE/APE field to meet this moment.

#AdaptedPE 👨🎓 crushed his overhand throwing goal w/ time to spare so he was given options:
1. Different skill
2. 1:00 challenge
3. Throwing at smaller 🎯
He chose #3 so we hung a hoop w/ minimal tape as it crashed to the ground when hit by the ball making a fun sound.
What an amazing opportunity!

#AdaptedPE 👨🎓 is learning about Health & Skill components of fitness.
Trying to make connections to specific movements at stations.
Next steps:
1. Make visual for the component match the station.
2. Have a “this or that” card to indicate if it is Health or Skill related.
Thank you @SHAPEWV for an awesome convention! It was joy to join you.

I end every #AdaptedPE lesson with a debrief, often w/ these prompts.
Starting w/ something the Ss liked eases into the conversation.
Highlighting 1 star & 1 stair allows the Ss to reflect on the goal by identifying a specific element.
These can help focus Ss’ on the learning

New episode of What’s New in Adapted PE! Crystal Skahan of Northeast Passage joins us to talk autonomy, choice, and community participation, and making meaningful recreation part of everyday life. tinyurl.com/bd84y29s #AdaptedPE
I shared this picture with a parent to illustrate how middle school peers were engaging, in fact initiating, physical activity with an #AdaptedPE student.
It’s taken a long time to get here but this is what the work is!
The parents response is going in my “note from family HoF”
Bradley! Spring Clamps! Brilliant!
Especially thought the back of the chair + pool noodle instant low basketball hoop is fantastic.
Adding "spring clamps" to my #AdaptedPE bucket asap.
@PELearnPlay
Check out the different ways that Bradley Land uses spring clamps!!

I’m so appreciative when a student has a one-on-one who is always ready to engage.
It’s an art to know when to step in to assist or step back and allow the student to work through the struggle.
It really made a difference for this student today in his #AdaptedPE lesson.
Thankful for a day of professional learning with @BaltCitySchools #AdaptedPE team.
It’s challenging to grow when you are silo’d but when we come together and work hard, challenge assumptions, and listen to understand we can make a lot of progress.
One Week from today I'll be joining @SHAPEWV for their convention at the Bridge Sports Complex.
I'm facilitating 2 sessions, with giveaways from @GopherSport at the end of each!
"Why We All Need an Adapted PE Bucket" 11:00am
"Adapted PE = High Quality PE" 1:45pm
See you there!
