Vote now to have your say on the 2026/27 GP contract which is being imposed on GP practices in England. GPs are being asked to do more and more, list sizes and GP-to-patient ratios are expanding while continuity of care is shrinking.

Nice to feel valued… what a way to treat staff.
Resident doctors are particularly exposed to mis-payment, as they rotate often, and it frequently seems to be a huge surprise to employers when they arrive. Paying them correctly is complex and often done incorrectly.

It’s a YES.
An overwhelming 93.4% of resident doctors in England have voted for further strike action, giving a clear mandate to continue pressuring the Government on jobs and pay in 2026.
The overall turnout was 52.54%.
Stay tuned for updates on our next steps.
We remain concerned about the inappropriate substitution of doctors with non-medically qualified staff.
We’re exploring how advanced practice roles are being used by NHS employers. To help with this, we’re asking UK doctors and medical students to complete our advanced practice survey.

1000s of doctors are unemployed while A&E wait times rise, GP appointments remain scarce and the waiting list stays at record highs.
This was completely avoidable and preventable.
The govt must make immediate interventions: prioritisation and more jobs.

Our national study found that for every one hour with patients, UK resident doctors spend four hours on admin.
In @bmj_latest today, we break down why this isn’t just an inconvenience, it’s a safety risk.
1) Fragmented EHRs → endless copy-paste + re-entering data
2) Trainees turned into scribes
3) Less training, less confidence, less preparedness
We suggest:
• Reassign admin to allied staff
• Joined-up IT that fits clinical workflows
• Minimum patient-facing time requirement in training
• Clinicians co-designing digital tools
If you work in healthcare: what’s one admin task you’d automate or reassign tomorrow?
