Emotional regulation is more than simply “keeping our cool.” It’s about understanding our triggers, recognizing stress, and finding ways to respond rather than react. psychologytoday.com/us/blog/…

What really drives motivation? Self-Determination Theory points to three key psychological needs: ✔️ Competence – Feeling capable and effective. ✔️ Autonomy – Having control over your work and choices. ✔️ Relatedness – Feeling connected to others. When these needs are met, we’re more motivated, productive, and happy.

Research tells us that when students are taught social-emotional skills their academic performance noticeably improves. That’s why the first principle of the Responsive Classroom approach is “Teaching social and emotional skills is just as important as teaching academic content."

Teachers and school staff do more than educate—they inspire, support, and help shape the future. 💚 This Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week, we recognize the educators who go beyond academics—who listen, encourage, and inspire young minds to grow into caring individuals. Your work makes a difference in ways that extend far beyond the classroom. Tag a teacher who has helped shape your journey! 👇 #RootsofEmpathy #TeacherAppreciationWeek #ThankYouTeachers

In Roots of Empathy, children become emotionally literate as they are coached to understand the baby’s emotions, their own emotions, and the emotions of others. Being able to feel the emotions of another is empathy. Empathy creates a foundation for wellbeing and positive relationships. When we experience positive connections and feel truly supported, we build the strength to navigate life’s challenges and grow through adversity. 🟢 83% of ROE students reported that they would try to help someone who feels sad, scared, or lonely. #RootsofEmpathy #Resilience #EmotionalLiteracy

Our brains don’t run at full speed all day long—they follow a daily rhythm: Peak, Trough, Recovery. Larks (15% of us) and the middle majority (two-thirds) experience peak focus in the morning, a midday dip, and a late-afternoon boost. Owls (20%) peak later in the day, following a recovery-trough-peak cycle. Your optimal schedule isn't about copying someone else's rhythm - it's about matching your tasks to your chronotype's natural peaks.

Research from three continents has shown that children in the Roots of Empathy (ROE) program are kinder, more inclusive, and more helpful than children who have not participated in the program. In ROE children are collectively exposed to the loving and protective relationship of the parent to the baby, it changes not only how they see things but also how they behave. Children in ROE come to understand that they were all once babies and everybody deserves to be loved and included as they grow up🌱💚 #RootsofEmpathy #EmpathyMatters #Research #Education

Children who are bullied often face anxiety, depression, and even long-term mental health issues, including struggles with self-esteem and academic performance. They may disengage from school, fearing further targeting, which affects their future opportunities. But bullies are at risk too. Children who bully often have fewer social and emotional skills and struggle to form positive relationships. Left unchecked, these behaviors can lead to more serious issues later in life, including substance abuse, depression, and violent behavior. Creating emotionally safe environments and supporting the development of empathy helps both the bully and the victim by promoting understanding, reducing aggression, and nurturing well-being for all. #AntiBullyingWeekUK #RootsofEmpathy #EmpathyInAction #MentalHealth #EmpathyMatters #Inclusion #Wellbeing
