We are inside the OODA loop. Outrage won’t fix this, and they know it. Congress can investigate Musk or Trump or Rubio or Hegseth all day long, but even getting that setup will take days or weeks. It will require staff frantically requesting documents and comms that won’t be provided. By the time any such hearing produces its very first soundbite, there will be a half dozen new outrages. Will those be investigated? There aren’t enough staffers in the world to run down all the egregious violations.
OODA loop: Observe, Orient, Decide, Act — the attention cycle employed by fighter pilots, described by Col. John Boyd. Fighter pilots have a tight, fast OODA loop that takes just a few seconds. Congress runs at about 5-7 days at absolute minimum.
The way the adversary (Putin, Musk, Trump) advances in this scenario is to act faster than the OODA loop, which isn’t all that hard. But acceleration shows an intent to escape circumstances and consequence.
To beat this kind of adversary you need to shut down their ability to act inside the OODA loop and also anticipate their next moves.
Washington isn’t cut out for this, especially going into the languid nothing-gets-done election and holiday season. So, if we want to interrupt this collapse, we need to select for moves that produce rapid outcomes, even if imperfect. That suggests court actions (TRO’s etc) vs slow Congressional inquiries. Or both in parallel. But don’t fantasize this is going to get fixed quickly without a lot of other simultaneous attacks. They are inside the OODA loop and they know it.

Yes, I've seen the posts about the Israeli mercenary spyware infecting mobile devices from ads on websites using zero day exploits, primarily targeting Palestinians and journalists.
This is ... I think third or fourth ... Israeli firm which does something like this.
Mobile spyware on this caliber unfortunately is not something I have been able to bonk. Mercenary spyware is notoriously difficult to detect and it is almost never shared publicly, in any capacity, it is usually shared with very specific researchers behind closed doors to bonk.
When this sort of goop is identified it is kept close to the chest of security companies or researchers because they do not want the governments, or individuals developing it, to know what they know about their mobile goop.
It's basically ultra mega fuck off super goop which can be acquired by ultra mega fuck off secret top secret goop acquisition specialists.
I'm aware several governments purchase these sort of exploits and spyware and use it, including the United States government, specifically ICE

Anthropic is a money furnace with $412 BILLION in financial commitments it cannot cancel.
Its only product is a commodity—a search engine for human data purloined through stolen content. This is now replicated by thousands of companies. There are zero pathways beyond nationalization that save Anthropic long-term.
Its entire valuation is based on marketing and PR verging on psychological warfare which alternately alleges that its software is going cure cancer, take our jobs, or kill us all—things that can’t happen.
Its entire staff consists of people committed to the religious conviction that the software they are creating is a new form of sentience. They currently process over a million merges a month on over 25GB of source code that no one in the company can possibly understand.
This company is strictly an impossible-to-win bet that they are going to be the first to create “AGI” if they just keep creating bigger and bigger piles of slop.
That’s not going to happen. Instead they will get increasingly desperate to prove their software is more than a preposterously bloated algorithm. The software will get increasingly worse. And this company will die in a fire along with the industry.
