New eruption reported at Kīlauea today 🌋.
Read how the USGS researchers map and measure these eruptions with drones: Drones have become an essential tool to map, measure and observe the extremely dangerous environments surrounding volcanic eruptions. beautifulpublicdata.com/mapp…
Trying to put the majority of my effort into Mastodon rather than this place, if you are a follower. Made a fun Mastodon bot to share 10 second slices of the photolog archives I have from FOIAs. Posting 2x per day!

New post: The Mirror Fusion Test Facility. A decade-long effort to build a massive machine to unlock the promise of nuclear fusion fell victim to budget constraints and competing science, and was shut down the day it was dedicated. It was never turned on.

How cool is #lidar? Well, it can see gators lurking beneath the surface, so I’d say it’s pretty dang awesome.
