Charity partnerships aren’t just for Christmas.
In fact, with a little imagination, coalitions between big businesses and NGOs have the power to drive real change.

We know the reasons people come to claim asylum in the UK: family/community connections, language, the UK's history.
"Deterrents" achieve nothing but misery. Rwanda deportations, enforced poverty, abysmal accommodation - it's all a political scam.

👀If you're in #Manchester, keep an eye out for the billboard at #VictoriaWarehouse; the 2nd largest in Europe.
Today, it'll share the experiences of a person who survived indefinite detention in the UK, as part of our campaign with @allies_justice, @ladbible & @benandjerrysUK.

Today, in collaboration with
@ladbible, @benandjerrysUK and @allies_justice, we share the story of a woman who was held for 750 in detention in the UK.
The UK is the only country in Europe that allows for indefinite immigration detention.
There is currently no limit on the length of time someone can be held in Immigration Detention in the UK. We met a woman who was held for 750 days in detention after her UK passport was cancelled. Read her diary thread below:

We need to support people with their spiralling bills and upgrade the homes that are leaking energy, but we need to address the root cause of this problem - end our dependancy on oil and gas and scale up the abundant renewable energy we have access to

Speaking of the “Ben & Jerry’s tendency” to speak out against injustice, did you know our Government is currently trying to forcibly deport people to Rwanda simply for seeking safety in the UK, and before their asylum claim has even been considered?

Refugees are ordinary people whose lives have been devastated by extraordinary events
How we respond - as one of the richest countries in the world with long history of colonisation of the countries that refugees now come from - says so much about #WhoWeAre

27,000 Ukrainians now have refuge in UK: 1 refugee for 25,000 UK residents.
Not “large numbers”, Johnson - but shamefully small. (In 1915, UK hosted 250,000 Belgian refugees).
EU is hosting 1 Ukrainian refugee for each 90 EU residents. More than 5 million.
