Sisteron is incredible and most definitely worth a visit. It's known as the gateway to Provence, so I think people will often bypass it on the autoroute south.

In 1987, Patrick Stewart refused to unpack his suitcase for six straight weeks. My throat still tightens every time I read why. Every Hollywood insider told the 47-year-old British stage actor that Star Trek: The Next Generation would be a disaster. Even his closest friend, Ian McKellen, begged him not to throw away his Shakespearean career on a television gamble. Stewart kept his bags packed by the door, waiting to be fired and sent home to London. That "six-week failure" lasted 36 years. Watching him late at night here in Japan, we saw something Hollywood never expected. In Japan, we call this quiet, unbreakable spirit "Fudoshin," an immovable heart under fire. Most action heroes scream and fire weapons to look strong. Captain Picard never needed to raise his voice. Born into deep poverty in Yorkshire, terrified of a violent home, he left school at age 15 and lost all his hair by 19, convinced his life as an actor was over before it began. Yet one English teacher, Cecil Dormand, handed that frightened 12-year-old boy a copy of Shakespeare, said "Read it out loud," and secretly paid for his first drama course. Never forget what happened decades later. On the morning Queen Elizabeth II knighted him as Sir Patrick Stewart, he invited that same retired schoolteacher to sit beside him at his knighthood luncheon. No suitcase left unpacked. No rage on the bridge. Just a cup of Earl Grey tea, a tug of his uniform, and three quiet words that commanded the galaxy: "Make it so." He passed away at 86 surrounded by live music, prayer, tears, and laughter. And this December, in Avengers: Doomsday, Professor X will grace the screen one final time. A boy who thought he wouldn't last six weeks in Hollywood gave the world an eternity of nobility. From Japan, with tears and our deepest salute: Thank you, Captain. Engage. ✨🖖🇯🇵

🐉 What does it take to organise one of the toughest mountain races on the planet? The Dragon's Back Race covers an incredible 380km over six days, with 17,000m of ascent across some of Wales' most challenging terrain. But earlier this year, the future of this iconic event was in doubt after its previous organisers went into administration. We chat to Sam from Ultra X, who stepped in to save the race, about what happened, the huge operation involved in delivering the event and why preserving its unique character and community is so important. We also get an insight into: 🐉 The incredible logistics behind six days of racing. ⛰️ What makes the Dragon's Back such a brutal challenge. 🏕️ Why fewer than 40% of runners finished this year's race. 🏃 The lessons learned from taking over an iconic event. ❤️ The unforgettable moments that make this race so special. If you're interested in ultra running, mountain racing or the stories behind some of the world's most challenging events, this is one not to miss! 🎧 Listen to the latest UKRunChat podcast now zencastr.com/z/O4ucuqvm #ukrunchat @mileswithshell @ultraxco

It’s finally happening. The fastest ship to ever traverse the Atlantic, the SS United States will be sunk right off my coast to make the world’s largest artificial reef. The ecosystem will be incredible—I can’t wait to dive it! 🤿🇺🇸💯

Ferran Adrià called this cosy, no-frills, working class tapas bar ‘a magical place:’ La Plata in Barcelona's Old Town. They have been serving the same four tapas since 1945: pescadito, ensalada, pincho de butifarra & pincho de anchoa. The medieval town of #Sisteron is on the banks of the River Durance, in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department. The narrow lanes are a joy to explore; however, the star has to be the magnificent Rocher de la Baume @ExploreFranceEN @lifefrance @UK_FranceFR buff.ly/aAZcvHo

Yesterday my pop was awarded the 2026 University of Utah S.J. Quinney Award for contributions to skiing in the intermountain west. Super proud moment for us! The event featured many of Utah's ski legends, olympic ski champions, and the 2026 NCAA Champion Utah Utes Ski Team!

Agreed, @simongerman600 - even though, on a small side note, we both know it's Semmelnknödeln and not Semmelknödel, right. (S)
The world dumpling map blew my mind. Tortellini and ravioli can be classified as dumplings?! Feels weird but it does make sense... Born and raised in Bavaria I was very happy to see Semmelknoedel featured! Interactive version here: buff.ly/2P6xNHH
