1/17 On this 20th day of July, exactly 250 years ago, the Continental Congress proclaimed a day of fasting and prayer for the burgeoning Revolution, saying "...And that all America may soon behold a gracious interposition of Heaven, for the redress of her many grievances, the restoration of her invaded rights, a reconciliation with the parent state, on terms constitutional and honorable to both; And that her civil and religious priviledges may be secured to the latest posterity."

Since the end of Haitian TPS, removal flights to Haiti have increased to a weekly pace. The Ohio Immigrant Alliance found 'detention of Haitians has surged 142%' in a few jails, while arrests in Springfield happen daily.

When I go out in public and look at the menagerie of foreign people wandering around in public spaces, I sometimes blink and ask myself "Did we lose a war? Were we conquered by Latin American and Indian hordes?" It is insane. This isn't the country I was born in.

Sure. When half the continent was still being settled, the transcontinental railroad hadn’t been built, and America was scrambling to industrialize.
It’s 2026. Stop arguing about good immigrants and bad immigrants. The second you do, you’ve already surrendered the first question:
Why do we need more immigration at all? GDP? Corporate labor demand? Institutional inertia? Some performative moral obligation to the rest of the planet? None of those answers begins with the interests of the American people.
Stop negotiating over who gets through the door before asking why the door needs to be open.
