Shocking stat of the day: Estimated annualized interest expense on US federal debt is up to a record $1.38 trillion. This is equivalent to 4.2% of US GDP, the highest percentage since 1997. By comparison, this figure stood at 2.3% in Q4 2020. Annualized interest expense has surged +$900 billion, or nearly +200%, over the last 5 years, rising at an average annual rate of +24%. Meanwhile, in the first 9 months of FY2026, interest expense jumped +$78 billion YoY, to $827 billion, the highest level for this period in history. The cost of servicing US federal debt has never been higher.

Dalia Grybauskaitė, former President of Lithuania: I was surprised by stupidity of Russia when they invaded Ukraine. They don’t need territories, they already have a lot. Just to humiliate nation? To make Ukrainian nation an enemy forever? Forever. To create Ukrainian identity so strong that it has never been before? Now they will become enemy for centuries. I call it stupidity. There's no sense in doing it and turning your friends into enemies, your historic allies. A Slavic nation that's practically very close to you historically. Pure humiliation, pure ambition, which is absolutely silly. I was also surprised by reaction of the West. How cowardly, how afraid West has been, what lack of leadership we demonstrated.

Vladimir Putin is one of the most prolific terrorist dirtbags of the last 50 years. He has killed at least SIXTEEN THOUSAND Ukrainian civilians with his murderous bombing of schools, restaurants, hospitals and apartment buildings. Vladimir Putin has turned Russia into a terrorist caliphate so brutally murderous that it would make Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi jealous. For perspective: ISIS is estimated to have killed ~400 people throughout all of Europe since their founding. 16,000 vs 400!! Even Bin Laden’s Al-Qaeda fails to come close to Putin with their number of 280. Putin is a nuclear-armed terrorist, plain and simple. An especially cowardly one. Meanwhile, he has governed his own country so completely incompetently that, despite spanning 11 time zones, it now has an economy significantly smaller than Texas, and — despite all of Russia’s incessant, completely performative, and disingenuous Christian LARPing—now has the largest Muslim population in Europe BY FAR.   In fact, Russia is such a total basket-case of a country that Putin’s own daughter chooses to live in Paris! And quite lavishly, I might add, with money that her father has pilfered from the Russian people. Americans who knowingly and willingly spread Russian propaganda are no better than those who have collaborated with ISIS. They are sickening traitors to our country. And they should be dealt with accordingly!

TRUMP: Putin said, "I'd love to meet in Moscow." I don’t know if Zelenskyy would go to Moscow. Maybe he would. Would you go to Moscow? ZELENSKYY: It’s difficult. There are lot of Ukrainian drones there. (Audience laughs) It’s dangerous. TRUMP: Yeah, it’s hard to go to Moscow.

The market also needs to learn to differentiate among the business models of companies in “data centers”. If the largest companies in the world now want to sell compute, that would logically increase demand for hard-to-find megawatts in an already constrained market. If a company has a 4.2GW portfolio of development sites and builds turnkey data centers for tenants (so the tenant can manufacture and sell compute), recent headlines seem very positive for such a company. @CipherInc $CIFR
The market needs to learn how to differentiate among the teams building data centers. We are on schedule at Barber Lake and our confidence is unwavering. $CIFR

When Notre-Dame burned in 2019, the world stopped. Today, Russia damages Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, a monastery nearly 1,000 years old and older than Notre-Dame itself. A thousand years of history deserves the same attention, the same sympathy, and the same protection.

$CIFR CEO Tyler Page says the company may generate its own power on-site to move faster on AI data center demand. Hyperscalers need power faster and Cipher may be able to “tap the pipeline” instead of waiting years on the grid.

C8VC Daily Brief: AI's bottleneck is no longer intelligence. It's electricity. The market has only priced one of them. — Google grew Cloud 63% to $20B and called itself "compute constrained." That's not a demand problem. That's a supply one. — ~$640B of hyperscaler capex in 2026, climbing in 2027. None of it buys a smarter model. It buys power, land, cooling, silicon. — One megawatt, leased to AI instead of hashing bitcoin: 5–7x the revenue. Same asset. The wrapper was never the value. — Nuclear didn't get a climate bid this cycle. It got a compute bid from a buyer who doesn't care what a kilowatt costs, only that it's firm. — Models are software. They compress toward zero. Power is physics. It doesn't. The AI trade everyone owns is the model. The one still mispriced is the megawatt. When the scarce input is electrons, the re-rate goes to whoever already holds them.

The Blume podcast unearths the best of founder stories. Last year’s theme “Destiny, Avenged” recounts 8 origin stories, startup successes that most people said couldn’t exist. @BKartRed and @BlumeVentures bring these stories to you in the 5th edition of our Narrowcast series. 🔷 @harshilmathur & @shashank_kr - @Razorpay "The system said no to them. Now they are the system." Two coders. 100 banker rejections. Then they became the payment rails for 80 of India's top 100 unicorns. 🍷 @RajeevSula - @sula_vineyards "Grit out when times are tougher. Know that what you're doing will pay off in the long term." He didn't start a wine company. He created India's wine industry. 💻 @SrishtiBaweja & @tarundua81 - @e2enetworks "Problem-solving, compounded over fifteen years, created something no vision could have." No grand thesis. Just the next problem, until they became India's only sovereign AI cloud infrastructure company. ✈️ @DeepKalraMMT & @Rajesh_Magow - @makemytrip "Perseverance, resilience is just showing up and being there." 9/11. Dot-com bust. COVID. They stayed through every crisis that wiped out everyone else. ₿ @BitfuryGeorge - @BitfuryGroup "First they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they fight you. And then you win." He chose to build when he could have just held 300,000 Bitcoin. Three billion-dollar companies later, he's still building. ⚡@tarunsmehta - @atherenergy "No one can shortcut a decade of engineering. The patience and the technological lead become the moat." He bet on premium EVs in a market obsessed with cheap. The hardness of hardware became his edge. 🧴Mohit Yadav - Minimalist "You can't be selectively honest." Radical transparency in a category built on hype. It turned out customers could think for themselves. 🏠Tanuj Shori - Square Yards "Is this life and death for you?" He used to ask every founder this question. Then he found his own answer and built India's largest integrated real estate platform. At Blume, we chose the theme "Destiny Avenged" for 2025 because it captures something every long-game founder knows: the feeling, after all the toil, that you've delivered on what your fate line suggested when you started. These aren't quick wins. They're decade-long journeys. And we've been privileged to witness and hear them up close. “Destiny Avenged” is in airport bookstores + amzn.in/d/057VEOkd @sajithpai @arpiit @AshishFafadia @sanjaynath @riashroff @saritaraichu @mitul_am @yashrajsharma_ @RinushreeS
