Salt Lake Central Station - the best connected transit stop in the state - should be one of the most popular pedestrian areas in downtown. But instead, it is isolated from the rest of downtown and has mud puddles where there should be sidewalks. We are squandering our potential.
Strava's walking heat map of downtown SLC. Does anything stand out to you? Not click bait - genuinely curious.

Salt Lake City has a security guard at the Liberty Park playground that’s been closed for over a year making sure that no kid uses it until the mayor can have a photo-op this evening.

You know what actually this sucks. "The Point" simultaneously ruined the Blue line extension, and is now putting huge financial strain on FrontRunner 2X

The city of Ogden had similar conversations with UDOT about building a grade-separated pedestrian crossing in front of Ogden Union Station. The best UDOT would argee to is a landscaped median in Wall Avenue, to break up the cross walk into 2 parts, as seen in the render:
I finally have a clearer answer to this from various sources and, yes, the pedestrian plaza has been replaced with a connection to an underground parking system similar to City Creek. 300 West will be left at grade, with tunnel entry points in the center (as seen here)

SLC Council will be discussing a proposed e-bike ordinance during today's work session. The ordinance balances the transportation needs of cyclists with the need to keep our urban trails family & pedestrian (and horse) friendly. Meeting details linked. slc.primegov.com/Portal/Meet…

State leaders demanded the capitol city mayor solve a state problem and she just said okay, made a plan, and got to work.

Great @CityWeekly piece by @swankmotron! #SLC is the best major league city in the USA, but the dog situation needs improvement. Too many people think their PETS are humans. Your ANIMAL needs to be leashed up- I don't want it touching me while I jog. Learn about legal liability
Replying to @BjaminWood
Also this week, Bryan Young calls out Salt Lake City dog owners who disrespect on-leash rules and clutter up the city's trails with poop. #slc #utpol cityweekly.net/news/off-leas…

Advocating for big transit projects can be hard work with very slow results... but the progress is real!
A tale of two undergrounds: The Roosevelt Boulevard Subway started as a grassroots effort and is now a hugely popular transit idea. Showing up on the SEPTA accelerate vision plan The Rio Grande Plan is also highly popular, and was added to WFRC's 2027 draft projects list

Typical discourse on X these days: They say: SLC is now a liberal hellhole. Libs ruined it with their crazy leftist policies. Tay say: In what way has it been ruined? They: Just look around. I wouldn't walk down the street! Druggies are everywhere and there's a whale whose paint has the same colors as the trans flag!! Tay: ... Downtown visits are up. City revenue keeps rising. City spending is way up too which I'm not stoked about. Home prices keep hitting record highs in the city... They: OH YOU SAY HOME PRICES ARE UP LIKE THAT'S A GOOD THING. Tay: Have a good day.

Why do I make fun of South Salt Lake (aka GoatHead City)? One big reason is how it treats Parleys Trail at the S-Line. Not only did the city eliminate the trail between State and Main streets, the signal priority makes clear cars are the priority over any other visitor.

I think if people knew just how many undeserving people are placed at the heads of agencies, boards, and quasi-governmental orgs here in Utah simply because they had a connection to the legislature, people would be ANGRY. Figurative Box Elder data centers everywhere #utpol #utleg
