everyone's coming back to market faster than ever 🚀
but what was cutting edge months ago is already being lapped
time diversification matters more than ever, and so does backing special founders who can adapt at this rate of change
It’s almost incomprehensible how wide the distance is between someone who’s working at the frontier with AI and basically everyone else right now.
The crazy thing is these lines are not converging, but only growing farther apart. If the curve of AI progress had leveled off, it would certainly have given most people and companies time to catch up or implement their workflows in a standardized way. The technology would have neutralized competitive advantage because everyone would be using it the same way.
But what’s happened is the opposite. The curve of AI progress is basically going vertical right now, which means if you had codified your processes 3-6 months ago you’re likely already behind again. Now imagine most companies that kicked into gear a year ago and thought that they were done. Even further behind now.
I’ve never seen a technology in my life and career that improves at this rate, which consequently means you need to upgrade your expectations at a similar rate. Our brains weren’t wired for this, and our organizational change management processes certainly weren’t either.
With any form of recursive self improvement, things just get wilder. It’s a time when you will need to be constantly reevaluating the things that didn’t work just a couple months ago to see if they now can be solved. AI native companies certainly have a strong advantage due to this right now, so now it comes down to can the bigger companies keep up. Wild times.

Two portfolio cos, one problem: can AI manage third-party risk without becoming part of it? @security_score's new benchmark scores models on capability and attack resistance together, and @snyksec is in on it. You can't secure what you haven't measured. nitter.cf/mnair1/status/21158186…
Thanks @security_score and @ayampolskiy for including @snyksec in the TPRM Bench launch. You can't secure an attack surface you haven't measured. This scores models on capability and attack resistance together, with an autonomy level from L0 to L4.
Huge congrats to @Boldstartvc portfolio cos @KeycardAI and @recolabs_ai on making the Fortune Cyber 60 🎉 Keycard is building identity and access for AI agents, and Reco secures the apps and identities people and agents use, making the list for the 4th time 🔐 Proud to back both teams from Inception! nitter.cf/lightspeedvp/status/21…

the most valuable dataset in AI is you... so build your own AI 🔥
every word you've typed trained a mind that isn't yours. @uare_ai flips it, your knowledge, your AI, owned by you

been fortunate to back @RobLoCascio first at liveperson and now @Uare_ai
build your own now
One year after launch, @KeycardAI made the Fortune Cyber 60. The stat that explains why: only a third of companies give agents their own scoped identities, and a quarter hand them human credentials. Agents need identities scoped to the task, and that's what Keycard builds. nitter.cf/KeycardAI/status/21154…

Model routing is becoming table stakes for agents. @clay's Claygent now picks the right model for every row of research: 47% cheaper than sending everything to the biggest model, and it decides in under a second. Same answers, smarter spend. nitter.cf/clay/status/2115141280…
Introducing auto-mode for Claygent. It picks the AI model for each row of research, balancing answer quality AND cost.
Now on by default for new Claygent columns:
- 47% cheaper than sending every task to the most capable model.
- <1 second to choose the model for each research task.
- You can still pick your favorite model anytime.
Super cool thing:
We post-trained an open-weight model with @appliedcompute to handle the routing. It runs on their AC2 platform and handles hundreds of millions of queries a month.
@jeffbarg, Vyshnavi, @rhythmrg, and @_brylee10 break it down below.
🔥 everyone wants more GPUs
@systalyze just got 538 tok/s out of the same ones
#1 on GLM 5.2 per @ArtificialAnlys, 1.7x @baseten and @CoreWeave, 5.5x the lab that built the model, lowest cost per token
#1 on every model they entered last month too
efficiency is the next big unlock in AI infra 🎯
Replying to @systalyze
@systalyze is #1 in output speed on @ArtificialAnlys for GLM 5.2, in both reasoning and non-reasoning modes.
→ 538 tok/s: 1.7× faster than @baseten and @CoreWeave , 5.5× @Zai_org own endpoint
→ Cheapest provider on non-reasoning

Local AI coding is now near-frontier on quality, faster on output, and far cheaper at scale, with your code never leaving your walls. @spectrocloudinc benchmarked AMD Instinct Coder with GLM 5.3:
- One 8-GPU box served 60 devs and 15 agents for 5 hours
- 406ms median first token, with zero errors across 18K+ requests
- 95.4% on SWE-bench Verified vs Opus 5's 97%
- Hosted APIs cost 3.3x to 20.6x more at sustained use
Run the TCO math, try the box in their sandbox, then buy the box 📦 Saad Malik is live with AMD today 👇

We've been saying for a while that local inference can cut your devs' AI coding bill without slowing them down.
This blog brings the receipts, from how we tuned an AMD Instinct Coder box to where it starts costing less than hosted APIs.

this week felt like sci-fi 👀 agents talking across isolated VMs through CPU cache timing, hardware bugs AI can exploit directly, lifelike voice models running on a laptop
is patching enough anymore? 🤔 sam altman doesn't think so, jason clinton says hold on for 18 months, matthew prince says years of sky-is-falling weeks
black october is real and we have to build the cyber defense factory sooner rather than later, agents running 24/7 and fighting compute with compute 🔥
Here's one take on what this could look like - notice that it will take a village to make this work! Lots of opportunity to build and reimagine and reinvent but the time was yesterday!

AI isn't just making things faster, it's solving problems humans literally couldn't attempt 🤯
parkinson's and alzheimer's targets have been "undruggable" for decades because they don't hold one shape... they dance between thousands. @ToposBio is building the models to see all of them
and they're not just training on public data, they're running their own cellular research in the lab to feed the models
this is AI for humanity
proud @Boldstartvc investor from inception
Topos Bio CEO Ryan Zarcone explains why designing drugs for Parkinson's and Alzheimer's is almost impossible for humans, but a perfect problem for AI:
"When a chemist designs a drug for a protein, the model is static. I have this protein, it has a shape, and I’m trying to fill that shape with a drug."
"These really dynamic proteins, like those involved in Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, don’t have one shape. They have potentially thousands of different shapes that they’re constantly interconverting between, kind of like someone who’s dancing."
"That becomes basically impossible when you tell a human, design something for these thousand things at the same time. It’s really only been possible to start doing that with AI."

banks finding unauthorized AI agents inside customer accounts, some acting on their own, and execs can't tell human from agent or authorized from rogue
every agent needs identity + intent, dynamic, at runtime, scoped to the task and gone the second it's done
SCOOP: Major U.S. banks are detecting unauthorized third-party AI agents inside customer accounts, including some attempting to take actions that appear to be independent of user instructions, sources told Axios.
The findings have alarmed banking executives, who are racing to restrict access to their systems as AI moves at a velocity faster than financial institutions can respond, multiple industry and bank executives told Axios.
Several banks are now preparing for worst-case and even “day after” scenarios, including how to rapidly secure or restore customer accounts if things go wrong, the people said.
Several bank executives told Axios they're struggling to distinguish between human users and AI agents. One executive said banks also struggle to determine whether agents are authorized by customers or potentially operating without their permission, more akin to rogue agent behavior.
