100%. Youth sports needs a revolution. Too much specialization at a very young age. Only 1 voice (coach) will limit growth. More sports = more opportunity, more friends & another voice that might just be the one who “clicks” with your child. Just let the kids play!
Youth sports is on life support. If you think it’s fine, you’re not paying attention. Kids age 10-12 are playing way too many tournaments and travel ball. Parents treat it like the World Series. They need less travel, more rest, fueling, and actual development. They’re 12 YO. The data backs it up: ❌70% of kids drop out of organized sports by age 13. ❌Professionalization (year-round single-sport focus, heavy travel/tournaments) drives overuse injuries, overtraining, and burnout. ❌Nearly 1 in 10 youth athletes experience burnout; up to 35% deal with overtraining. ❌Early specialization before 12-13 raises injury and burnout risks significantly. Multi-sport kids who rest and play for fun stick around longer and develop better. Let them be kids. Prioritize recovery, fun, and long-term health over trophies. The best athletes often sample multiple sports early and specialize later. Who else sees this?

Reminding all @SienaMBB fans. This is how you donate to revenue share for our athletes. Let’s keep building on the momentum from this past year. We want to continue to compete for championships and this is one of the keys to attracting and retaining the best talent. sienasaints.com/news/2025/9/…

Love this. Couldn’t agree more! Youth sports needs a revolution. Kids need to do more & make their own choices. Avoid the $$ grab much of it has become. Everyone is a trainer, an expert, etc. Anyone can coach, not everyone can teach! Find teachers if your kids are serious.
Youth sports are out of control. I was the 9th overall pick in the MLB Draft. I played professionally for more than 10 years. Here is how I am navigating youth sports as a parent to four kids:

First, amateur sports created many of my best sports memories (above pro sports). Yet today's landscape has gotten out of control. I see it firsthand with my own kids and as I speak to future NIL athletes. So what I am doing to help my kids maximize their time in sports ⬇️

Congratulations T George! As you know, winning isn’t easy but you’ve done it your entire career. As a HS & College player & as a college coach you’ve done nothing but win - which proves Winners always find a way to win!
Lucky enough to be around so many talented players, coaches, staff, and family members to help me reach this milestone! 20+ win average at any level is tough and makes me appreciate the people that sacrificed for this program even more! Onward and upward! @GeneseeCCMbb

💯.. and on top of that, 95% of excuses are BS & the other 5% no one cares about!
PARENTS: When you blame other things (officials, coaches, conditions, circumstances, teammates) for the situation your son or daughter is in, then you're essentially teaching your child how to be an excuse maker. Set the standard. Be the standard.

You coached for 27 years and won a title a whopping 0 times. Kawhi been healthy in the playoffs 2 years of his prime and had one of the most dominant championship runs of all time. Safe to say that you were pretty garbage and won’t be remembered

Coach, I can feel for you. We went through the same situation @saintrosembb this year. Our timing was literally the day our women’s soccer team was playing in the Final Four. We were able to find all 13 players homes. Good homes. Best wishes to you and your family of players.💪🏼🏀

Great Post!
Stop running away from: • tough coaches • difficult teachers who challenge you • a trainer that pushes you • parents who don’t let you quit RUN TOWARDS THEM. The easy route is usually the one in which you don’t grow.
