Nobody cooler than Evel Knievel. Just sayin'...
(I forgot to post this yesterday) Fifty-one years ago on October 25, 1975, Evel Knievel made history by successfully jumping 14 Greyhound buses at Kings Island in Ohio. Flying 133 feet on his Harley-Davidson XR-750, the legendary stuntman achieved the longest successful jump of his career and drew a record-breaking 52% television audience on ABC's Wide World of Sports. The historic leap served as the ultimate redemption after his horrific Wembley Stadium crash just five months earlier, setting a world record that stood unbroken for 24 years. I loved watching him as a kid.

"It's about what happens when you fail." - man, I think my failures are what taught me more than any other lesson. Some people read, some use their hands. I think I had to learn by failing. But that journey gave me faith, courage, strength,& hope. And it brought me the blessings of others.
Tom Brady: Are you prepared to take advantage of opportunities. Life is not about how much you succeed, it's about what happens when you fail. How do you deal with failure? Do you deal with it with class and integrity, and with courage and resilience?

I love the fact that the @EDiSCompany team that inspired me to slow down to the speed of espresso, served me espresso! Everything is better when we sit down with intentionallity. Everything.

I'm touring our @EDiSCompany projects this week & had the opportunity to observe a concrete pour at the Leach School in @Colonial_SD. An incredible honor to build what matters. And a reminder that we are not just your builders, we're your neighbors.

We are called to be the light. To bring others into the light. Through kindness, understanding, forgiveness, & love. We don't shed darkness w/ more darkness. We are asked to fill empty spaces with light, so that the dark loses its ground. Dark rhetoric has no place in the light.

Fullfillment is bringing what you are made for to those you love. Don't be successful, be fulfilled.

Being at @JMU this weekend for @JMUFootball and @JMUMRD got me (and gets me) fired up! I love my #JUMDukes community. Hard to believe how much 4 years, out of 61, can change just about everything, for the better. #StartWearingPurple #america

Building is the manifestation of something much larger. Much deeper. Something much more reasoned. When we arrive at a ribbon cutting we are much different people than at the groundbreaking. The process is transformative. Reach higher. Lead your #legacy. Build something bold. #LeadershipDevelopment

I enjoyed this video by @GuyWinch. We need to give talkers a new technique. I coached one guy who displayed this propensity. I asked him to start carrying a little red notebook around. Every time he wanted to talk, I suggested he write in the book. 📕 Step two was that he talk last. Odds were that things that he wanted to say, were covered by others. That left only the most undiscovered tidbit to be shared at the end. The most valuable comments are often the last ones. Slow down, speak last.
Talking the most in a meeting does not show leadership. Real leaders listen, ask thoughtful questions, and foster constructive solutions. #manager #corporateculture #communication #psychology #leadership

My grandfather had the original philosophy for building your #algorithm, "You are a function of the people you surround yourself with." If you don't like your feed, it's your fault. Surround yourself with good people. #wisdom

So interesting. This book by @AdamMGrant is exactly what I was looking for. In my upcoming book, Pietra, I discuss something in the Italo-American community called The Sagra, the festival, the meal. Looking forward to seeing through his lens how we are better when we are connected.
I'm giving away 25 copies of #VIBE. To enter, repost and comment by October 13. adamgrant.net/vibe
