Hi my name is Brian
If you're a progressive in WV I want to help you feel like you deserve to be in office.
If you're already in office I want to help you do things.
Get at me.

Gaza is absolutely one of the most important foreign policy questions of the last 25 years precisely because the stakes are so low for global powers: it asks, "Will you stop an obvious humanitarian catastrophe even though the outcome won't significantly affect your interests either way?"

I cannot begin to explain why Joe Manchin is the worst possible messenger for this message.
The disgusting attack ad in the Ohio governor’s race points to a much bigger problem in politics. The political parties don't care about the character or integrity of their candidates anymore. They only care about power — no matter what it takes. We need common sense leadership, and once again, the parties are failing to meet the moment.

I live in the self-proclaimed "Heart of the Trillion Dollar Coalfield," yet the poverty level is triple the national average, it's the most food insecure region of the state, life expectancy is 15 yrs lower than the rest of the US, and access to healthcare & safe water is limited

The underfunding and neglect of our public schools in the southern coalfields are now impacting children's health.
Amazing stuff like this takes investment from the state. This exists because of an investment from the state legislature in the 60's to the tune of 1.5 million in today's dollars. – at Morgantown, WV
There’s nothing quite like the sights and sounds of Cass Scenic Railroad State Park.
With its historic steam locomotives, mountain views and the new Slabtown Campground now open year-round, Cass offers another great way to experience Wild and Wonderful West Virginia.
It’s easy to see why West Virginia was just rated the second most beautiful state in America (though we should be #1!).

Good news: @FitchRatings upgraded West Virginia’s lottery and excess lottery revenue bonds from A+ to AA-.
Prudent financial management matters. Stronger credit ratings help protect taxpayer dollars, lower borrowing costs, and put us in a better position to make life more affordable for everyday West Virginians.

AI ethics has focused too much on protecting humans and ignored the welfare of AI agents themselves.
We only ask: How do we align models for the flourishing of humanity?
We need to also ask: How do we design AI so that they can flourish?
^ this is what a new breed of AI-welfare theorists claim. This idea of AI-welfare seemed decadent to me at first glance, but some of the most important philosophers of our age argue that we need to take it seriously. Otherwise, we could be harming, enslaving, and killing trillions of beings.
If the arc of Western modernity is a series of expansions of the moral circle -- the abolitionists, women’s suffrage, the queer movement, animal-rights -- perhaps AI agents will be the next heated battleground of who deserves moral consideration.
My guest NYU Philosopher @LedermanHarvey (now at Anthropic) gives us a comprehensive overview of the burgeoning debate around AI-welfare.

Morrissey somehow believes that anthropic sinking 45 million into a data center translates into any economic benefit for wvians. This is like saying look at all the money coal companies are "investing" in WV yet somehow worse because at least the mines gave ppl jobs. – at Star City, WV
Our private sector capital investment numbers will be far better over the past year than any other year in WV history. And the numbers aren’t even close!!!
And we did it without all of the government subsidies and hand outs from the past. Capitalism at its finest! Speed to build really matters.
$15 billion plus $45 billion equals $60 billion pledged to help WV in private sector investment. We will lift our standard of living up much higher than you have ever seen before!
West Virginia is advancing its comeback story — are you ready?

Hello, this is the Governor’s program that his administration runs. Literally he is who allows this to happen this way.
Want to make it more accountable? Go for it. But to vilify people after the fact and assume they buy 🍺🚬 with no proof? Ridiculous.

Governor, the families followed the instructions that YOUR DoHS issued to apply, verify income, and how to use the cards to get funds for back to school expenses. If you don't want parents to have the freedom to choose the store they shop at then go back to a paper voucher that retailers don't like, but don't throw parents under the bus because you don't trust WEST VIRGINIA moms and dads and grandparents to make the best choice for their kids.
Morrisey made a statistical claim he had no evidence for and then immediately walked it back. If you have evidence of fraud bring it forward or stop stigmatizing parents trying to survive. – at Star City, WV

Reminder that people weren’t crying out for voucher programs and charter schools. You don’t hold a radical position when you support having public schools. You’ve forgotten this fact because you have out-of-state billionaire money, flooding the zone.
