BREAKING: BLUE TSUNAMI! Pope Leo XIV casts his vote in the midterm elections, making him the first pontiff in history to do so! And it gets even better... “The Holy Father expresses his belief in the right and the duty of citizens to participate in democratic processes,” stated the Vatican, adding that Leo “has exercised his right to vote as a United States citizen, whenever he was eligible to do so," including during his time as a missionary in Peru. The pope — the first American to hold the Chair of Saint Peter — was registered to vote under his birth name Robert Prevost and cast a mail-in ballot, citing an address in New Lenox, Illinois. Leo has voted in Republican primaries in the past as well as in Democratic ones. While the Church's stance on abortion is presumably what tilted him Republican in the past, the relatively sane conservative party of the pre-MAGA days is long gone. It seems exceedingly unlikely that he's voting red this time around. Leo has become one of the Trump administration's fiercest, most prominent critics. He has repeatedly slammed the White House's brutal and cruel treatment of migrants as well as its illegal Iran War. “I’m not a big fan of Pope Leo,” Trump previously said. He absurdly accused the Vicar of Christ of being "WEAK on crime" and "terrible for foreign policy" while simultaneously claiming personal responsibility for his papacy. While we will likely never find out for certain who Leo voted for (we'd put good money on JB Pritzker given his bold opposition to the fascist MAGA movement), the pope's example of civic engagement should be an inspiration to us all. If he can find the time to vote while running the oldest and largest religious institution in the world, the rest of us can carve out some time to cast our ballots. Please ❤️ and share to thank Pope Leo!

Hatchet job on Labour’s budget on @BBCNEandCumbria . No real journalism, just vox pops. Tory MP has the neck to complain about fuel prices - his party supported Trump’s war in Iran, a massive reason for increased petrol costs.

These long, detailed interviews with, or statements from, famous footballers and other well known people. Why do ppl post them when they are clearly fictional? All making strong arguments, perfectly written, with no grammatical errors. I know how it’s done: my question is, why?

This man speaks for Trump. He calls Putin “A humanitarian”. Farage is a big supporter of Trump. Presumably Farage thinks highly of Putin too. It’s treachery.
Replying to @CNN
Real estate agent Witkoff called Putin (a dictator who even kills his own citizens) a "humanitarian"😵‍💫

@BBCPM If America is attacked repeatedly by a foreign country, what territory will the US concede to reach a settlement? Please ask the Trump apologist this question.

Unsurprisingly, they didn’t ask her that very simple question. The interviewee suggests “both sides have to give something up” to end Russia’s war on Ukraine. Oh really? 🤬🤬🤬

Good grief, that was an honest appraisal of Trump on @BBCPM by a former Tory minister Ben Wallace. 👍

Trump is drawn to Putin like a moth to a flame. It was only a matter of time before he was manipulated into betraying Zelenskyy and Ukraine once again. Putin, a disastrous Russian president, plays him like a fiddle. Trump’s actions will stain the USA’s reputation for generations.

Awful. Wrong team selection, formation and tactics. Two in midfield, no, stop it. Wissa is not a number 10. No focal point up front. We outpossessed them but they’re down at the bottom of the league. #Nufc

Great reporting here and by “Hope not Hate”, but why does it need to be HNH and similar discovering and informing us of this stuff? Govt is asleep at the wheel while our democracy is being bought/stolen. HM govt - please wake up and take notice. theguardian.com/uk-news/2026…

I’ll be honest, it never once occurred to me that ‘English’ was a race rather than a nationality. The English are a mongrel race of Normans, Germanic tribes and Anglo Saxons who themselves were a melting pot of old English, Danes etc
