@CHRIPS policy brief examining KYEOP in Kondele and Kawangware found that skills development and economic opportunity can strengthen young people’s resilience to criminal and political violence.
@KiamaikoC @KayoleCJC @AfroWomensOrch @ICJKenya
Economic opportunity also matters. 87% of KYEOP business grant recipients created employment for themselves and others, while 64% of trained youth secured employment.
The lesson: reducing economic vulnerability can reduce opportunities for political exploitation.
Ahead of 2027, the policy challenge goes beyond temporary stipends. Sustainable livelihoods must address income inequality, unfair resource distribution and structural conditions that leave young people vulnerable to political & criminal violence. #Kenya2027 #YouthEmployment
