Now thats a penalty. No messing about, stupid run ups or stuttering start and stops. Just pick your spot and hit it 👏
So, why ? 🤔 does he think americans will fall for this before mid terms ? He has a scattergun approach to everything as he has no real solutions to problems often of his own making.
Trump’s diesel deal with Putin makes no sense (it’s also immoral since it will fund the ailing Kremlin war machine).
The US has no need of Russian diesel. It already refines more than enough for domestic demand — with 1.5m b/d for export.
Russia has no diesel to export. Ukrainian drones have taken out a third of Russian refining capacity, turning Russia into a net importer of diesel (from India).
The volumes involved are derisory. The initial Russian offer = 2.2m barrels. The US consumes 3.5m b/d.
The price of diesel at the US pump is between $6/6.50. That won’t change before the midterms. The deal does nothing to help Trump in these elections.
But it bolsters Putin and undermines Ukraine.
This is the problem from the off isn’t it? Sportswashing - for influence outside of the sport itself. I don’t see how this helps Man City, only shine a light on the very issue itself 🤷♂️
Well #panorama was damning wasn’t it. Social services and police forces a disgrace. Another national scandal to add to the list of national scandals in this corrupt, confused country. How on earth was that allowed to happen☹️ Devastating impact in so many girls and families.
Feels like they have reached that target just where I live !
It was never a ‘stretch target.’ The manifesto promise came with no caveats. It only became a ‘stretch’ when it was clear they’d never hit it — not by a long chalk. Would be more honest just to admit that. But that’s not how politicians work. They think we can’t see their dissembling.
So let me do their work for them: there is no chance — no chance — Labour will build 1.5m new homes in England between 2024 and 2029. End of.

One of the most thoughtful, intelligent and balanced articles that I have ever read on illegal migration and the small boats crisis. Kudos to @matthewsyed for this:
“Your first duty is to serve your own citizens. Not people from Eritrea, Somalia, Afghanistan or Nigeria. The British people.
Oh, and the nation you serve is not just a territory. It is a home. Our home. It is where we live and work, and where ritual, community, family, and other concepts we might assemble under the rubric of "culture" come together to weave the fabric of a life. Our life. The only life we have and which unfolds in concord with those with whom we share it.
Without borders, we are not a nation, and without a nation, we are nothing.
We are but tribes or clans, scattered here and there, pipsqueak groups unable to operate at scale or to defend what is precious. To open our borders in the name of "compassion" to people, some of whom hate our values and wish to destroy them, is to place your virtue above our safety. It is a form of self-annihilating madness dressed up as enlightenment.
Only the myopic will infer from the above that I am in favour of slamming the doors to those in need.”

🟥 Hughes Has Lost the Plot - He Should Be On Gardening Leave
Richard Hughes has reached desperation stakes.
I’ve got no issue with Yankuba Minteh as a player. He’s talented, quick, direct and, as a squad option, there is plenty to like. But nine goals and eight assists in 66 Premier League appearances is hardly a record that should have Liverpool losing their heads.
And now he’s injured. Surgery, another eight weeks out, Liverpool apparently bidding £50m anyway.
What on earth are we doing?
If Minteh was genuinely the man, why was this not dealt with in June? Why wait all summer? Why wait until the lad is unavailable? Why make an offer Brighton were always likely to reject?
I would love to believe this is some clever attempt to flush PSG out over Bradley Barcola or Ibrahim Mbaye. I really would. I simply do not have enough faith in Hughes to believe there is that level of cunning behind it.
This reeks of a plan collapsing and somebody scrambling for the next name on the list.
Hughes should be on gardening leave, waiting for his first Saudi pay cheque, nowhere near decisions that could shape Liverpool for years.
FSG allowing an outgoing sporting director to preside over a window this important is gross negligence.
And perhaps one day, amid all the breathless updates about bids, shortlists and “interest”, a few more people with the loudest platforms might ask who is actually responsible for this mess.
Liverpool have the money. They have a new manager who needs backing. They have known their weaknesses for months.
There are no excuses left.

Axe Net Zero.
Official figures say UK taxpayers are forking out £30 billion every single year until 2050 on net zero. That’s not a policy. That’s a money printer for corporations who’ve discovered a lucrative business model: get paid by the government to save the planet while the planet carries on exactly as it was going to.
Thirty billion a year. Enough to build the reservoirs we actually need, flood defences that work, clean the streets so they no longer look like a landfill on a pavement, fill in potholes from Land’s End to John o’Groats until the roads are smoother than a politician’s empty promise. And plant more trees in our towns and cities - which will help to lower temperatures, reduce flooding, reduce pollution, beautify our high streets and provide the most natural and long lasting form of carbon capture.
Instead we’re funding the world’s most expensive virtue signal. The temperature won’t notice. The net zero linked corporations will. Their nests have never been so luxuriously feathered by the taxpayer.
Stop the net zero gravy train.
Spend the money on real infrastructures to improve people’s daily lives rather than spaffing away our public money on corporate virtue cosplay.
Its just football today. Corrupt, confused, messed up, lost. Its heartbreaking seeing the game as it is today. I have checked out - something i could never have imagined growing up and playing the game.
A cult is all they have ever been. And a damaging one at that. Not withstanding the fact that they were enabled by Cameron and successive useless Tory and Labour governments. Its all a terrible mess. The country is in a hole and needs to get its own house in order
Tim Montgomerie joining Reform was a pivotal moment in their rise. At the point he defected it really looked as if Reform could permanently replace the Tories as the main electoral force on the right.
The fact they no longer want him in the party because of a bit of constructive criticism suggests Reform aren’t serious about doing the difficult things required to win power. Once again, you have to ask: does Farage really want to be PM?
It’s worth watching Tim’s full interview with The Spectator from yesterday - he speaks passionately about his love for the Reform membership and makes entirely logical recommendations like Farage’s need to appoint a Chief of Staff.
If Reform and Farage can’t handle such talk then they really have just become a personality cult.
