As good an excuse as any to leave the commonwealth, England has lost it’s goddam mind.

After years of water system failures, flooding and property damage, a new independent report raises serious questions about what the former mayor of Calgary, and Alberta NDP leader Naheed Nenshi knew and what he did about it.
Nenshi was briefed on the concerns, yet the warnings never made it to city council.
Years later, Calgarians are dealing with the disastrous Bearspaw water main failures, not once, but twice.
Residents were forced to boil their water and ration their water use. Meanwhile, the man who led Calgary for 11 years has blamed everyone but himself.
Now, Calgary families are facing water bills projected to DOUBLE over the next three years, exceeding $200 per month.
Nenshi wants to lead Alberta. He can’t even keep water running for Calgarians.

Councillor DJ Kelly claims Calgary hasn’t collected enough from ratepayers to maintain its water system. Mayor Jeromy similarly blames chronic underfunding.
Alberta’s independent Goldie report tells a different story.

Fuck you @westjet! What is the point of booking and selecting seats months ago if you’re going to split me from my children and have them fly next to fucking strangers with no warning. You are a fucking joke.

#yyc and it’s water pipes would like for you to shut the fuck up you clown
Meanwhile I’m busy watching my projected utility bills double in 5-years, a 50% property tax increase over the next 5 years, no answers for where 15 years of collected maintenance capital for water utilities disappeared to inside #yyc admin…
Yesterday the Province directed Calgary and Edmonton on how our neighbourhoods should grow.
I want to be clear: my concern is not about rezoning. That's gone. My concern is a pattern of Provincial interference in local decisions, often while that work is still underway 1/ #yyc

📍 Edmonton $3,209

How about a 15% tax cut instead?
City Council is looking at approving the LARGEST property tax hikes in decades: 15% in 2027, 10% in 2028, 7.6% in 2029 and 6% in 2030.
This is simply UNACCEPTABLE.
There needs to be a huge shift in priorities.
Focus on infrastructure, public safety, and core city services. We need to make cuts in all areas that are not core responsibilities of municipalities.
I will be advocating for and proposing spending cuts as we get closer to the budget deliberations.
Many members of council ran on fiscal responsibility, it's time to keep our commitment to Calgarians and focus Calgarians tax dollars on needs, not wants.
No one will ever be able to make a joke this good about natural gas because there has never been a gasco that doesn’t like drilling more than beeathing
We had a good thing, you stupid son of a bitch. We had the mortgage. We had the score. We had the one number every lender in America was too scared to close a loan without.
Thirty years. Thirty years, nobody could touch you.
You could’ve shut your mouth, raised prices bit by bit, and made as much money as anyone ever needed. It was perfect.
But no — you had to jack it 17x in five years. You and your pride and your earnings calls. You just had to squeeze every drop. You just had to be the man.
If you'd known your place and let the pennies roll in, we'd all be fine right now.
Instead, VantageScore's through the door, the FHFA's circling, and the whole industry's finally asking why they ever needed you at all.

“You’ve got to be very careful as a military leader about resigning. You can fall on your sword, but generally it hurts and you can only do it once.”—Former defence chief Wayne Eyre
Eyre almost quit after Chrystia Freeland publicly threw him under the bus. He stayed because resignation would have been a political act that damaged the institution more than the politicians who starved it of funds and delayed decisions “at the speed of war”
The memoir is blunt: Trudeau's ideological leadership collided with reality, speeches about Ukraine sat next to budget cuts, and Canada’s top soldier was left holding a hollowed-out force that left Canada undefended @wd_eyre
"Canada's former top military commander considered resigning "several times" during his tenure in battles with the former Trudeau government over the sexual misconduct scandal, and the lack of commitment towards defence spending.
Retired general Wayne Eyre's new memoir, Into the Breach: A Soldier's Journey, also peels back the curtain on the internal debate that took place over how to end the convoy occupation of downtown Ottawa in early 2022." @wd_eyre

Replying to @JakeLandauTO
No Jake, grain, pulse and oilseed farmers - those that ship on rail and export through ports - are not major users of TFWs. Agricultural TFWs are overwhelmingly concentrated in greenhouse, fruit and vegetables segments. Saskatchewan has about 1% of agricultural TFWs nationally.
Over/under on the USA using their new Greenland pact to charge Canada and Europe a “trans-atlantic security fee” the minute Canada signs on to a formal role (associate whatever) with the EU. I’ll take before the mid-terms for DT floating it. #cdnpoli #straitofGreenMuz/HorLand
