Flavio Bolsonaro will end up ahead of Lula in the first-round of voting, but will fall short of the 50% needed to win outright tonight. 🇧🇷
The run-off is October 25. Given who the voters are who voted for other candidates behind the two of them (more right-wing than left-wing), and the Right's huge night tonight, Bolsonaro be a big favorite to win.
The big question is whether the pro-Lula judges on the Supreme Court, who have been *extremely* active/abusive in using their censorship and other election powers to meddle thus far, will just sit by and let Brazilian voters decide who their President will be.

BREAKING:
5 hospitals have been closed for quarantines in Siberia due to a possible plague outbreak.
The 28-year-old lab technician Darya Shipilova, died yesterday after breaking a test tube with live Yersinia pestis the Irkutsk Anti-Plague Institute on September 25th while handling samples.
A mask mandate has now been introduced at the huge aluminum plant in Irkutsk.
Some U.S. politicians are now calling for commercial air travel to and from Russia to be stopped until the situation is clarified.
This first symptoms of pneumonic plague typically start about 4 to 7 days after exposure. 200 people are under observation.

Shout out to @SethDillon. He publicly called out Tucker all the way back in 2024 when Tucker first interviewed Darryl Cooper. So many didn’t see it at the time. Most conservative influencers took Tucker’s side. Seth paid a steep price for it. He was right.

Close to 50% of the vote in Brazil: Flavio Bolsonaro contines maintaining a large 8.5 point lead over Lula.
No poll predicted any margin like this. Most predicted Lula ahead with a second round needed.
Definite under-counting by Brazil's major pollsters -- yet again -- of the support for Bolsonaro and his movement nationwide. Very strong night for his party.
Only question is whether Bolsonaro stays above 50% and wins without a run-off. My guess is a run-off is needed, but we'll see. Most of the non Bolsonaro/Lula voters are likely to migrate to the right, not the left. Bolsonaro would be a big favorite in a run-off:

Thing IR realists equivocate on: Rhetoric is said to be a cover for interest and incentives, but when they hear liberal rhetoric, they assume the speaker is naive instead of following incentives.
It’s largely language games all the way down.

Even when you strip all the postwar-order morality-tale stuff away from our role in WWII, and look at it from a purely Realist, geopolitical perspective, it is absolutely the case that we couldn't allow Nazi Germany to become European hegemon. It went against 100s of years of British foreign policy towards maintaining a balance of power in Europe, especially Western Europe. Add to this the specific problem of the ideological roots of the Nazi push for domination of Europe. We could never have made some sort of peace with Germany and lived with a Europe run by Nazi Germany, especially as Hitler wouldn't have left us alone anyway given his litany of past broken promises and treaties.

The 3 South Alabama students accused of making threats against President Trump must face the full force of the law. There can be no mercy.
Last week the Center for Strategic Politics released a survey that showed nearly a third of Democrats are okay with President Trump being assassinated.
The Left is no longer trying to cancel those they disagree with. Now, they want to kill us.
A message must be sent: if you threaten the president, you go to jail. Period. The court must set an example with the U of South Alabama students.

🚨☣️More details on the Oct 1st pneumonic plague outbreak in Siberia, after a lab accident at a BSL-3 lab.
"FSB units accompanying ambulances transporting people who had been in contact with [lab tech] Shipilova for medical examination," as per local news. This is significant. FSB is Russia's domestic security / counterintelligence service, tasked w/implementing the national security of Russia." (Its predecessor was the KGB). This suggests quarantine was not voluntary.
It also means Russian authorities are treating the lab accident and plague outbreak as a national security issue, involving a lot more than routine public health.
