"Qatar provides a foundation for a better future," says Sir Mark Thompson, CNN's Chairman and CEO.
Groveling like this doesn't come cheap.
How much is Doha is paying the network?
SCOOP: CNN International is hosting a major summit in Doha later this month in partnership with the government-run Media City Qatar.
But it appears CNN quietly revised its agenda, removing some rather sycophantic descriptions of Qatar.
The original program included a session titled "State of Influence," which explicitly discussed Qatar's expanding diplomatic role, asking how the country could position itself at the center of global affairs.
Another session, "The Gulf: What Comes Next?", proclaimed:
"Qatar has built something rare — a small country with an outsized role in how the world works."
It went on to praise Qatar's achievements in diplomacy, energy, culture, and sport, describing the country as having consistently punched above its weight.
Those descriptions have since disappeared from the live agenda, but traces remain in Bing's search index. Screenshots below.
A few questions for @cnnipr:
Why were these sessions renamed or removed? Who wrote the original descriptions? And did CNN's Qatari government-backed partner have any role in developing or revising the agenda?

A week of Jewish hospitality in Israel has left me ashamed of the welcome Britain offers its own Jews. My latest essay is a love letter to people who should never have to wonder whether they belong in the country they call home.

All of these happened TODAY in Doha:
Head of CNN: "Qatar provides a foundation for a better future."
Qatar's PM: "Understanding different perspectives has never been more important."
Qatar's Shura Council: "It's illegal to be an influencer without a government permit."

Whenever you see Kiriakou pop up, he’s doing the bidding of his Russian paymasters. It’s not even close to subtle.

🚨MAJOR ISRAELI ELECTION SCANDAL🇶🇦
Israel's election chief, Justice Noam Sohlberg, has ordered the Shin Bet to probe suspected foreign funding of Arab voter turnout and vote-buying.
Qatar is reportedly a prime suspect. Is there any democracy Doha doesn't try to subvert?
Semafor says it never took Qatari "investment." But nobody asked about that.
What people want to know, and what Semafor refuses to answer, is how much Qatari money it took, on what terms, and how it shaped their coverage of Qatar.
Time for @TheJusticeDept to step in.

I'm told that the information I posted here about Qatar buying votes in Somalia's 2012 election has never been reported by American media

ah, yes, "walking-around money"—the voter bribe which Ed Rollins notoriously said he'd used to secure Christie Todd Whitman's victory in a NJ governor's face--a revelation that ended his consultant career. But as Eitan says, the claim here is the money came from outside Israel.

Today, the 18th of Cheshvan, is the 8th tragic Hebrew anniversary of the massacre at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh. Here is a niggun composed in memory of the eleven women and men murdered there.
youtube.com/watch?v=fVf_Shl3…
A brief explanation of the lyrics:
The words reflect the outpouring of love that followed this horror. People of all backgrounds streamed to the site to offer sympathy, reflecting the sentiment of the Psalmist, We are with you in your distress – Imo anochi be’tzara. The overflowing light of the millions who came forward to share in the grief echoed the Hassidic teaching, A little bit of light pushes away an abundance of darkness – k’tzat min ha’or doheh harbeh min ha-hoshech.
The names of the slain are called out amidst the collage of ancient holy words, in an ultimate tribute. And who can ever forget the headline of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, in large Hebrew letters: Yitgadel Ve’yitkadesh Shmeih Rabbah – the text of the Kaddish, the Memorial Prayer for the dead.
And then, a final cry. Ad matai, Ad matai – When will it end?
In tribute to Congregation Tree of Life, and its then rabbi Jeffrey Myers, the melody shifts midway to the tune of the prayer Etz Hayim Hi (it is a tree of life), sung when returning the Torah to the Ark.
Coming from the heart, the niggun is melancholy yet hopeful – the hope that soon, soon, the light will push away the darkness.

The funds passed through Qatar and Turkey and were funneled through terrorist financing channels.
The increase in voter turnout in the Bedouin community in particular, and the Arab community in general, is unprecedented in the history of the state.
In Rahat, for example, voter turnout rose to 80%.
Supreme Justice Solberg believes that reports suggesting this increase was achieved through foreign funding aimed at harming the state should be investigated.
