The dream of "life in the big city" is what put America on the wrong path. It erased hometown pride. People in America used to be proud of where they were from. Now we are all piled on top of each other, and we wonder why the school with 1000 kids and 150 teachers won't produce kids who know math. A high school sporting event on a Friday night was an event for the whole town. Everything was sponsored by the local business owners. People looked out for and after each other.
If it wasn't for "life in the big city" how many of these towns would probably still exist? How much of that farmland would have stayed as generational. Small businesses of all kinds? Why were we so willing to give it up?
