Just a reminder that the federal deficit was $160B before the Big Billionaires Bill in March of 2025.
It now sits at $1.97 TRILLION
That’s $1,970,000,000,000
from. $164,000,000,000
Since Trump took office and Congress took a nap.
Pay attention Florida.
If you have a Republican congress member right now-they voted for this. They voted to end ACA subsidies. And mine, Mike Haridopolis voted not to expand Medicaid in Florida when he served in state leg.
Vote @Jenkins4Florida and @AngieNixon

Today was a first.
Twenty-three years ago, I registered to vote. I’ve voted in every election in which I was eligible since. Until today, I had NEVER voted for a Democrat.
Nobody who knew me then, including me, would have believed it. But we wouldn’t have believed an increasingly wicked Donald Trump and @ByronDonalds would become the standard-bearers of the Republican Party, either.
Reagan Republicans wouldn’t have tolerated one man holding the nomination process hostage or making personal loyalty the measure of political worthiness. Reagan chose his primary rival as his running mate. Today, disagreement is treated as betrayal.
The greatest influence on my vote was my wife and our two boys. They are my greatest treasure and my greatest duty. Their future matters more than my allegiance to any party.
Having courage to stand up to @realDonaldTrump is why I voted for @DavidJollyFL.
Loyalty to Trump is why I refused to vote for @AshleyMoodyFL, and it's why I cast my vote for @MBeltranFL with considerable reluctance.
I believe David Jolly understands the struggles of working families. I don’t have that confidence in Byron Donalds. I have serious questions about his business record, accumulated wealth, and credibility. I’m a free-market capitalist. I celebrate wealth created through productivity and real value. But math should math.
The Republican in me cringes at the prospect of Democrats governing congress for the next four years. The American in me is horrified by the growing control Donald Trump exercises over our government and the Republican Party. I hope 2026 makes 2006 look modest in history.
Sometimes amputation is necessary to save the rest of the body. Today, I chose to amputate my political allegiance so the country I love, and the country my children will inherit, might have an opportunity to heal.
I haven’t abandoned Republican principles. I’m refusing to abandon those principles for any one man.
Principles > Party. Family > Government. Country > Corruption.

WE COUNT THE ENEMIES WE KILL. WE RARELY COUNT THE ONES WE CREATE.
Nidal Hasan was a patient on my floor in the surgical trauma ICU at Brooke Army Medical Center.
I wasn't there when he arrived. I had just left for my deployment to Mosul, Iraq. But the nurses and doctors who cared for him were my peers and my friends, and I know exactly what that required of them, because every one of us had done some version of it before. Before anyone tells me what strength looks like, understand what that work demands.
I have cared for a drunk driver who wiped out an entire family and landed in our ICU himself. I have cared for gang members who shot up a block while children were stepping off a school bus, then ended up on our unit with bullets of their own. I have kept alive people who murdered their own families and failed at taking their own lives. And in Iraq, I saved the lives of the very enemy fighters who had just tried to kill us and miraculously survived our response.
Every one of those patients got our best. Not because we felt anything for them, but because of who we were. You set aside anger, grief, prejudice and every personal feeling you have, because a life in front of you is a life in front of you. That's the oath. That's the duty.
So when Hasan came through those doors, my colleagues did what we had always done. They preserved the life of a man who murdered thirteen people and would have killed them too, given the chance. He killed those men and women in one of the very same buildings many Soldier's like myself have been in when I was stationed at Fort Hood.
He is alive today because they did their jobs. That was not sentiment. It was a hard, tangible expression of the values this country claims to stand for. Our principles had to mean something even when the person benefiting from them had violated everything we believed in.
Now the Pentagon plans to livestream his execution by firing squad on Dec. 3, and our leaders apparently believe turning his death into a public spectacle will demonstrate American strength. I think it demonstrates how little they understand the enemy they claim to be fighting. We kept Nidal Hasan alive, now our leaders want to make him a martyr.
Hasan walked into Fort Hood expecting to die. He believed his death would be rewarded. At his trial, he called no witnesses and offered no defense, and his own court-appointed lawyers worried he was seeking execution. He failed at martyrdom once. Now we're about to hand it to him, in high definition, for every extremist with an internet connection to replay, manipulate and celebrate.
We supply the footage. They supply the meaning.
Long after the politicians finish congratulating themselves, that video will still exist. Their moment of bravado becomes somebody else's recruiting material for decades. And this failure to think past the immediate display of power reaches far beyond one execution. We count the enemies we kill. We rarely count the enemies we create.
Look at the school in Minab, Iran, where multiple investigations attributed the strike that killed more than 100 children and their teachers to us. You cannot bury people's children beneath the rubble of their classrooms and expect a speech about American intentions to decide how they remember you. No denial brings those children home. No claim of good intentions makes their parents forget whose weapons killed them.
If those were our children, we would remember for the rest of our lives. We would demand accountability. Many of us would want vengeance. We would tell their stories to the next generation. We know this because we did exactly that after September 11.
Why do we imagine other people love their children less, grieve less deeply, or remember less clearly?
We have developed a horrifying talent for creating more terrorists than we will ever stop. We inflict suffering, evade responsibility, and then act as though the anger that follows came out of nowhere.
Think back to the first time you saw one of those al Qaeda videos of an American being beheaded. Remember the sickness in your stomach. Remember the rage. Remember thinking that only savages would film a killing and send it out for the world to watch. Now ask yourself what the rest of the world will see when the camera is ours.
Terrorist organizations stage executions for the cameras. Authoritarian regimes make death a public spectacle to feed fear and rage. Watching our own leaders reach for those same tools should force us to confront how much of ourselves we are surrendering in the name of defeating them.
The line separating us from the people we condemn has to live in our conduct. A flag cannot hold it for us. Neither can a uniform, a title, or a declaration that we are the good guys.
On that ICU floor, on a bloody street in Mosul, and in trauma bays across this country, people like my colleagues hold that line every day under circumstances most will never face. They keep monsters alive because their duty and their humanity are bigger than their hatred of what those monsters have done.
Execute him if that's the sentence. But do it the way a confident nation does; quietly, lawfully, and without giving him the stage he always wanted. Let him be forgotten.
I expect our leaders to show at least as much discipline as the nurses who had to care for him.
They keep telling us they are defending what makes America different. Every day, they make that difference harder to see.

How can you NOT believe in God when octopuses dream and otters have a favorite rock they carry around in a little skin pocket and cows have best friends and bees are out there communicating the coordinates of flowers through dancing and they have regional dialects?
Cats are purring at frequencies associated with bone healing? Forests get absolutely incinerated and respond by growing flowers? Dolphins literally invent names for themselves and yell them across the ocean? Penguins are waddling around Antarctica looking for the perfect rock to give their partner?
CROWS REMEMBER YOUR FACE. THEY TELL OTHER CROWS ABOUT YOU. THEY TELL THEIR CHILDREN ABOUT YOU. YOU CAN HAVE GENERATIONAL BEEF WITH A BIRD. I NEED YOU TO UNDERSTAND THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THIS.
Goats have accents. Rats laugh when you tickle them. Elephants mourn their dead. Whales make songs and then OTHER WHALES LEARN THE SONG and suddenly everybody across the ocean is singing the new song.
Monarch butterflies are born knowing how to fly thousands of miles to a place they have never been.
Sea turtles hatch out of an egg, immediately sprint toward an ocean that they have never seen, disappear into it for like 3 decades and then somehow come back to the same beach they hatched on.
Birds can see colors that we humans can’t see. There are colors out there right now that we don’t even get to know about.
There are sea slugs that eat algae and use the chloroplast/chlorophyll and then are just like…photosynthesizing. And they’re super adorable.
There are mushrooms communicating underground. There are seeds sitting in the dirt for decades like “no actually I will wait. It’s fine.”
Squirrels plant trees because they forget where they put their snacks. Relatable.
A CATERPILLAR GOES INTO A LITTLE BAG THAT IT CREATES ITSELF AND DISSOLVES MOST OF ITS BODY INTO ORGANIC GOO AND REARRANGES ITSELF, GROWS WINGS AND THEN LEAVES. WHY IS THIS NOT MORE BEAUTIFULLY TERRIFYING TO PEOPLE??
And you’re telling me a tiny acorn knows how to become a huge tree? It just has a blueprint inside itself?
Your body started as ONE CELL.
ONE.
And that cell divided itself into a brain that can think about its own existence and eyes that can look at stars and hands that can hold somebody else’s hands and a heart that runs on electricity without you even asking it to?
The iron in our blood was made inside a star??
We are walking around on a wet rock covered in bioluminescent oceans and singing whales and laughing rats and birds holding lifelong grudges and flowers exploding out of fire and somehow we’re supposed to act like this is a normal place to live?
We’re supposed to act like this is all just a random, accidental sequence of events?
I so wish I could have been there!
What an incredible Sunday.
We packed the room at both events with Rick Wilson, and the energy was undeniable. People are paying attention. They’re showing up. And they’re ready to work.
Rick has spent decades studying campaigns and Republican politics, and right now he’s keeping a close eye on just three congressional races in Florida including ours here in FL-8.
There’s a reason this race is getting attention: our campaign’s polling showed this race can tighten dramatically as voters learn more about us, and everywhere I go, I can feel the enthusiasm building.
Sunday made that crystal clear.
Thank you to Rick, the Brevard Democrats, and every single person who came out, filled those rooms, asked questions, brought friends, and reminded me why we’re fighting so hard for this community.
People are waking up to what’s possible in FL-8. Now we turn that energy into votes. 💪

.@DemGovs, I have a question.
Just 11 days ago, the DGA announced its new Expand the Map Fund and said it was prepared to “aggressively go on offense to flip key pickup opportunities in states like Georgia, Iowa, Nevada, Ohio, and beyond.”
Let’s talk about the “beyond.”
Your own polling has David Jolly beating Byron Donalds by one point in Florida.
So what exactly are you waiting for?
An invitation?
Nobody is asking the DGA to match Byron dollar for dollar. You know the ask: SEND THE RESOURCES.
Organizing. Field. Communications. Digital. Voter contact. Infrastructure.
Florida is showing you that it is competitive. Your own polling is showing you that it is competitive.
And I have another question: Do your donors know?
Do the people giving money because they believe Democrats should go on offense understand that one of the biggest states in the country, a state in the South, is sitting there with a Democratic candidate leading in YOUR OWN POLL, while the national infrastructure hesitates?
You said “and beyond.”
Well, Florida is beyond.
The opportunity is here. The numbers are here. The candidate is here. The grassroots are here.
INVEST IN FLORIDA!!!
.@davidjollyfl in #Tampa - "I need the national Democratic Party to spend a single dime in this race."
“Free Florida” is actually very very expensive
My daughter works full time here in Florida.
Let me run her numbers.
State minimum wage is $14/hour. She’s making $15.
40 hours a week = $600/week
That’s about $2,600/month before taxes.
Florida has no state income tax, the thing they love to sell you on.
After federal and FICA, she takes home roughly $2,200.
Average one-bedroom in our area? About $1,600.
That’s 73% of her entire paycheck gone to rent before she eats a single meal.
That leaves her around $600 a month for:
groceries
gas
car insurance
health insurance
phone
emergencies
savings
Car insurance alone eats a huge chunk of that in this state.
She works 40 hours a week and still can’t save a dollar.
Not because she’s careless.
Because there’s nothing left to save.
I spent thirty years paying off a house here.
She’s doing the same thing I did at her age, working full time, and she can’t even afford a one-bedroom apartment.
That’s not a discipline problem.
That’s not avocado toast.
The floor moved and nobody lowered the ceiling.
Working full time should be enough to afford a roof over your head.
In Florida, it barely covers the rent on one.

WOW! Senator Katie Britt just UNLEASHED on Democrats after not a single one showed up for today's hearing on Safety in Women's Sports:
"It can't go unspoken that not one member on the other side of the aisle has had the respect for women to come in here and ask questions, to figure out how we get this right, how we stand up for fairness, for safety, for an opportunity for young women across the country."

Hey folks. This is a lie. I've never proposed a hurricane tax. In fact, my plan repeals the hurricane tax Byron plans to continue.
Never trust a liar.
Florida families are already stretched thin, and David Jolly's answer is a $1,000-a-year
hurricane tax that hits you whether a storm makes landfall or not.
Jolly wants you to pay more while bailing out Big Insurance.
My Bring Down The Bill plan will bring costs down for consumers and hold insurance companies accountable.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The $1000 hurricane tax accusation has been thoroughly debunked. It was fabricated.
