“It feels really empty without him,” says 16-year-old Corey Diawara, whose father was deported in July. His father had lived in the U.S. for 25 years and had no criminal record. Moussa Diawara says he was deported without being able to speak to his lawyer or a judge. He was eventually sent to Mali, a country a U.S. immigration judge ruled he could not be deported to. The disgusting attack ad in the Ohio governor’s race points to a much bigger problem in politics. The political parties don't care about the character or integrity of their candidates anymore. They only care about power — no matter what it takes. We need common sense leadership, and once again, the parties are failing to meet the moment.

I applied for a warehouse job, a basic forklift/picker role, not management, not corporate. Did the interview, took the physical assessment, passed it, discussed shift and pay, got a "we'll be in touch." Never heard back. A 40-something, fully able-bodied person with actual forklift certification can't get hired for an entry-level warehouse shift. This is supposedly one of the tightest labor markets in decades, employers constantly saying they "can't find workers." So which is it? Because I'm standing here, qualified, available, certified, and apparently invisible to every single application I submit. Millions of people in the exact same position, getting ghosted after interviews that went fine. Something doesn't add up, and it's not the workers.

When masked government agents are taking people off the streets and citizens are being shot in public, we should all be worried about where things are headed. As Jews, we know that when a government starts targeting certain groups of people, no one should assume they’re safe from what comes next. Mike Rogers has chosen to align himself with a movement that is willing to attack our democracy. He stood with Trump and refused to accept the results of the 2020 election. And now we’re seeing what happens when a political movement treats the rights and dignity of certain people as disposable. For Jews, these things should set off alarm bells. Jewish safety is tied to the health of our democracy. We can’t protect one without protecting the other. And in this Senate race, Abdul is the candidate who understands that and is willing to fight for it. #abdulelsayed #democracy #jewish #midterms
