As this #KGB document shows, KGB faked hostile sabotage attacks on selected Soviet nuclear power plants in order to test local KGB security practices.
The KGB units involved came from the FCD Directorate "S" (the Illegals' Directorate) & the Department "M" (Mobilization).

This is a very rare instance of a #KGB document concerning the operations of Directorate S (Illegals) being publicly available.
π In 1989, Lithuanian #KGB asked the Directorate S (Illegals) of the FCD KGB in Moscow for additional 1,000 DM for the operational expenses of their cultivation of the target codenamed GERMAN.
The only digital trace of Col. V. K. Umnov, the head of 10th Dept, Directorate S.
